Believe, God has a reason for everything.

And Government can actually do more for their citizens across all states. But why wont they?

I encountered some of Nature's most unbelievable phenomenon ever.

I left Lagos for Ilorin on the 27th of May, boarding a bus from Ojota. The bus took off at approximately 9.25am and the journey was quite interesting, given the wonderful friends and new locations I experienced along the way.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jWNWJ9uNxI0

Our route took us through Ibadan, Oyo, Ogbomosho, Ojutaye and Galilee, with our driver making stops at each intervals; to allow weary passengers stretch themselves and distressed ones relieve their loads, before arriving at Ilorin.

My busstop was GariAlimu (pronounced Gay-ri-Her-limi) and I enthusiastically notified my cousin and host, David Oni, the IT guru of Vivid Motion and Agricultural entrepreneur, who further directed me on how to locate his hideout inside the annals of Ayilara community within the territories of Asa Dam.

A bike ride from Limca Junction, right beside the Eucharistic Hearts Junior School, seemed to last forever and after 10mins of just passing vast farmlands and rural communities, I had to ask the rider "are we almost there" to which he replied "no but we are almost". At that moment I placed a whatsapp call to David who gave me a landmark to watch out for, which turned out to be the most beautiful hint of civilization in the middle of nowhere, after completing a 15minutes speedy ride from the highway.

David caught up with me, we embraced, exchanged pleasantries and briefly discussed how "easy" it was to locate his hideout" giving me ample time to stretch my numb legs, then we proceeded through a trail leading to his private property, which housed a network of farms and a cozy bachelor's pad, right in front of the mammoth lake known as Asa Dam.

Bringing memories of Uncle Charlie's beachview house in Two and a Half Men, It was admirable to see my cousin's flow for his waterfront property and interestingly within my 3 days spent in Ilorin, I encountered some of Nature's most unbelievable phenomenon ever, of which, though locals are used to, I would credit to the mammoth lake.

Asa Dam can generate 500 megawatts of electricity but its not generating anything.

It is a source of livelihood to local fishermen and is the habitat for various species of sea animals.

The surrounding jungle houses some unpopular creatures, notably colorful birds and creepy insects, which I thought about capturing and naming.

The scariest part of living in Asa Dam axis is when rain wants to fall and the clouds get heavy and changes color. It usually looks like a scene from war of the worlds, alien invasion or rapture is about to take place.

I learned a number of things before and I'm grateful to God for the disappointment that forced me there and also the grace that brought me back. Cos now I have seen how I belong to the future, to the glory of God.

Peace be unto you

that place holds a lot of memories.

when I was 20 years I promised myself I would tour the whole of Nigeria, for a year, the only problem was lack of funds.

I only had 6000 naira with me as at 2010.

I started my journey from Andoni local government area in Rivers State. to feed myself I was Hawking pure water.

I toured every local government in Rivers State while selling my pure water. I used the sale of pure water to finance my journey.

I toured every state in Nigeria plus the fct.

at the Asa dam, I saw a couple of kids inside a class room shooting a porn video. I was baffled. chai memories.

mind you I slept in mosque, class room, Parks, markets.

I survived it. was fun

Love you're writing skills.
You're right asa dam can generate 500 or more megawatt and can also offer more things like tourest center, better farming plan BUT our leaders won't emback on what will benefit the masses and won't enrich their pockets. A state that can't provide drinking water for her residents despite spending huge money. Till we have leaders that have foresight and have the love of masses at heart we can't have any reasonable development. Many states are enrich with land minerals, good land plan with environment but all our leaders can think of is OIL and TAX.

No joke on the government's lackadaisical attitude, wetin my eye see ehn, I give David tiri gbosa for his tenacity, everybody get their own well. Light na another story and its as if the government thrives of the residents' disunity

Searching for industrial training placement can be frustrating. This is why we built My Siwes app to help students search for places to carry out their Students' Industrial Work Experience Scheme(SIWES) quicker. You can search for firms and companies using your course of study and location.

Revokes memories. I actually did my NYSC in KWHA at Asa Dam road in 2012. The Asa Dam road stands close to the Kwara parade ground and a host of industries within that axis. What a sight seeing the Asa Dam and it's magnificent water body.
