Mr. Olayomi Koiki,

I write you with a heavy heart.

You see, while it's imperative that we should not trade blames, it is also important to analyze trends to know our stand in every given situation. As in this instance, media trend.

Sir, we all know you are a media expert. A good one at that. That's why people agree you are unanimously picked to be Chief Sunday Adeyemo Igboho's spokesperson. However, if RACE Model in PR is applied; I would say things are not going as expected. How do one assess this?

Pastor Adeboye's was the third apology Chief Igboho would make under six months. You, as a media expert know this is not a good score sheet in Media Relations and PR. But why do you think that he apologizes after certain utterances on the media?

Unfortunately, the answer is YOU, sir.

There are some utterances of Chief Igboho that many people would not agree with, and what do you do with those words? You have them controlled.

Yes.. Koiki is a capable hand. However, Igboho needs to censor what he says. Koiki can manage his media, not the words of his mouth. Remember the last Facebook LIVE? Igboho poured vituperative words on Pastor Adeboye over his son's demise and campaigned for Tinubu 2023 Presidency.... Some will say Koiki can't control that, but there are things Koiki can do!

When a friend on a WhatsApp group wrote, "KOIKI and Igboho are very close now than ever, even more closer than their wives. While I won't try to verify this, I will rather ask why Koiki won't utilise this closeness as a tool for media tutelage, because, personally, that is what I expected."

I argue that, "what you mean here, if I understand you, is that Koiki should change attitudinal dispensation of Igboho? How is that even possible? Sit him down and lecture him? Try to teach him how to sensor words sensor, word choices, etc? Impossible!"

Another friend opined, "not exactly, but, I believe a kind of lecture and rehearsal on what and how to talk when on air can do the magic. As his media aide, he can even represent him and relay whatever he intends to talk about to the media."

Those are true words and good suggestions.

Sir, on the media front, everything still boils down to Koiki, Sunday Igboho did not just mention Pastor Adeboye's name out of the blues. It was Koiki who brought up consoling him. He shouldn't have done that. Also it's expected that as his media PR, Koiki should have rehearsed with Igboho on whatever they're going to say in their interviews.

As a media PR, you don't just put someone who's not a gifted speaker in front of a camera and ask him to keep speaking freely. This is what you are doing!

On the safer side, it can be argued that Koiki shouldn't be lynch for another man's verbal blunders. It's like blaming Mark Zuckerberg anytime someone share porn on Facebook!

Lols. Nice, I love this analogy. An Igbo proverb says, "A man who does not want strange footprint in his backyard, must fence it". Mark Zuckerberg did that (i.e control contents post on Facebook) with the implementation of community standard measures. Everything you post is being screened and you can be penalized once you go against his community standard.

So, I believe that Koiki should be blamed for igboho's unguarded speeches. Koiki is a professional in the act, it's his field, he's the media manager and spokesperson, Aha!

If Koiki was not his media PR then he would not have the blame but the moment Koiki became his media PR it became his responsibility.

Igboho's unguarded utterances was one of the maim reasons we thought he needed a media PR in the first place. What then is the use of the Koiki as PR if he could not watch out for Igboho and make sure he does not grant interviews that hurts his image? If Igboho had said those things under another platform where Koiki was not present or granted interviews to others outside arrangement made by Koiki, then he could be blamed for it, but inasmuch as it the same Koiki that handled these interviews he can not be exempted from the blame.

If we analyze this whole thing, it can be submitted that there's not much difference between when KOIKI was not his media aide and now - that he's Igboho's media man.

Sir, Yorùbá cause is a very, very delicate issue, and its freedom would predictably takes a lot of delicate process. There are many who believe in it, some don't believe in it and some are sitting on the fence....Like Chief Sunday said in the last Facebook Live video with you, "there are some that are in support of cause now but would subsequently turn up."

Understandably, Chief Sunday Adeyemo Igboho had nothing to do with word expressions until Yorùbá cause come to the fore. I pray and hope that you (Mr. Koiki) would rectified this soon, as you put it to us on your website. Sunday Igboho means so many things to so many people. He's a brand. Manage him!
