Report of attack on Ebonyi community not true – Police

The Police Command in Ebonyi has debunked recent reports and pictures on social media that a community in Ebonyi has been attacked by suspected gunmen on early hours of Sunday.

This is contained in a statement issued to reporters in Abakaliki on Sunday by the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Loveth Odah.

According to the statement, “No herdsmen attacked any Ebonyi community.”

“The attention of the Ebonyi State Police Command has been drawn to the pictures/news items in circulation on some social media platforms misinforming the reading public that a village in Ebonyi local government area of the state was under herdsmen’s attack.

“To set the records straight, the information reaching the command has it that the attack happened at Nwori Ndobasi and Odoke villages in Ado local government area of Benue in the early hours of May 30.

“As it were, today is their market day so traders from Ebonyi LGA crossed over to buy and sell as had been the practice over the years and were caught in the crossfire during the attack.

“There was no attack on any village in Ebonyi LGA as widely reported on some social media platforms and other conventional media outlets.

“Consequently, the Commissioner of Police in Ebonyi, CP Aliyu Garba, has implored the good people of Ebonyi and the general public to disregard the report of an attack on a village in Ebonyi.

“You go about your lawful businesses as the Command has placed adequate security measures to ensure the safety of lives and property of the people,” the statement added.

It does not matter where the attack happened. What happened is that Fulani terrorist invaded a village and killed people and the terrorist federal government will just keep mute and do as if nothing happened but let the people rise up against the terrorist herdsmen and see them quickly deploy the useless army.

No government agency publications should be taken seriously. The People now know una modus operandi.

You're not getting it... The crux here is that the attack didn't happen on Ebonyi soil as wrongly reported in the previous thread, the responsibility of protecting these people should rest with the Benue state government which they woefully failed to do, the Ebonyi state security outfits actually had to cross over the these communities in Benue state to repel the herdsmen from causing more havoc. Why is Ortom not protecting these Igbo communities in his state?

you guys should stop exonerating ESN . ESN has mandate of the people than the governors. By now we supposed to have rapid response ESN in all these flash point areas.
