I have always known and heard that Akwa Ibom is grouped among the Southerners. However, the comments from fellow Nairalanders has almost persuade me into thinking that Akwa Ibom is located in the Eastern part of Nigeria.

Sorry, there is nowhere called south south. It was the divide and rule of the caliphate and yoribas.
