What do Nigerians really want? President Muhammadu Buhari asked a very important question about what Nigerians want.

Mr. President, Nigerians do not want much. All we want is constant power supply like a lot of African countries. We want water supply like other countries in the world. We just want an environment where a young man can go out in the night without being harassed or killed by a policeman. We want equality, a country where everyone is treated as a stakeholder in the country and not as being less than others due to tribe or religion. We want a country where there are the same standards for everyone. A country where Aliyu, Segun and Emeka have the same cut-off marks to gain admission into a university.
We want a country where Fulanis respect their hosts, pay to own lands like other Nigerians and stay peacefully with others without turning the hosts into endangered species like they have done to communities in Benue.
We want a country where Aliyu gets the same punishment as Segun and Emeka when they commit the same offence. We want a country where lecturers stop collecting bribes to pass students, a country where students finish university and get jobs instead of looking for who to dupe from “Yahoo yahoo”. We want a country where people are recruited into the army and civil service on merit and not on ethnic sentiments. We want a country where individuals identify with the country first before religion or tribe because they know they are treated fairly and justly.
We want a country where the president condemns attacks on indigenous people instead of threatening genocide on another section of the country.

President Buhari, this is what many Nigerians with good conscience want.

When people see us agitating for Biafra, it is not because we hate other Nigerians. It is because we travel a lot and we know we can do much better than we are doing and we want a better society for our kids. I am a proud spare parts boy, I don’t hate anyone, I want a better country for my people.

And you put all this request to a just one man because he is the President? What are the people investing into Nigeria?

In as much as he has a role to play, the bulk is with Nigerians. We are medium that propagate almost all the ills you mentioned and blame the President. Has the president ever told the masses to sabotage electricity, scam, rob, kidnap, sabotage pipelines, or engage in corruption? Nut we very quick to trade blame.

You mentioned other countries in Africa, do they have same mentality like Nigerians do? Are we the poorest country in the world that warrants us to be world renowned in every illicit act? Oh! The President encourages us to all.

Change starts with the people!

Change starts with the president stopping the marauding herdsmen from attacking others. The sounds of separation became much louder when Fulanis started slaughtering people in their farms and renaming their villages. That’s where the change should start from and Buhari can stop it today if he wishes to but he clearly doesn’t want to.

Who are the herdsmen? Who are the real owners of the cattle's? Who gets illegal ammunitions into their hands. The whole ring I mentioned is the people, and it applies to every ills befalling this country. When Nigerians start loving each other, be patriotic, responsible and determined, progress is guaranteed. Not this accusing fingers to the top!

Like someone would say, Nigerians will re-kill Jesus if he comes to rule us cos he wont let us have our way. What are this ways? Our illicit and illegal ways. Our ideology and manners has strong ties with the negatives.

Why did the past administrations do better than Buhari even though they all ruled the same people?

Granted but what about Fulani herdsmen?

More media coverage of Fulani herdsmen crimes?
More Fulani militias because of the insecurity in the North and environs?

Their bad behaviour didn't start today. As far back as in high school, I have known that they could be dangerous. Pol have

The issue is how everyone keep excusing their tribesmen, the role they play in this crisis. Many of their cows are owned by the locals. Do you go after them? How many fulai herdsmen theives and murderers have been arrested, charged to court and convicted right on SE?

ESN goes after Fulani communities. Do we really need to discuss how stereotypical and shortsighted that action is?

If you are talking about Fulani herdsmen, past admins were no better (infact I recall hearing about clashes between herdsmen and farmers in the early 1990's.)

The issue is
1.Our population has grown. In 1963, it was around 55million people. By 1991 it was 88 million, now it is 211 million.
2.Areas that were once 'free to graze' have become farmland and/or built up areas.
3.In 1960, cows were already being transported by rail. Then the rail system collapsed by the late 1980's/early 90's
4.The South has a high population density
5.The Sahara is pushing down south (someone back in 2006 was saying that if nothing was done, by 2050, the Sahara would extend as far as Gombe.)
6.Libya happened...lots of guns and ammo fell into hands of crooks and desperados.

Naturally this does not excuse Buhari. He was voted in part to devise solutions to all these problems. It also does not excuse FUlanis taking the laws into their own hands too
