A former federal lawmaker has described as a bad legacy the indefinite suspension of Twitter by the President Muhammadu Buhari regime.

Mr Buhari through the Information Ministry announced the suspension of the giant social networking site. This comes a day after it accused the micro-blogging platform of double standard.

The U.S-based platform had deleted the remarks of Mr Buhari deemed genocidal. It also removed the video clip where the Nigerian leader was shown issuing the threat against one of the major tribes in the country.

But reacting to the ban, Mr Sani tweeted Friday evening that the decision is a bad legacy.

“Twitter suspension;a bad legacy,” he said.

Mr Buhari while seeking the exalted office used social media, including Twitter, to propagate his three major campaign promises comprising of Corruption, Economy and Security.

His decision to shut down the micro-blogging platform is being described as dictatorial by most Nigerians who reacted to the development.

Meanwhile, Facebook has also deleted the controversial remarks of the president from his page on the platform and it is unclear as at press time if similar action will be taken against it also.

So because one person's tweet was deleted, he sanctioned the suspension of a social media platform used by millions of citizens? That idea smells like cow dung.

Buhari has a personal issue with twitter because his tweets had a dictatorial tone and if lots of Nigerians see it, it could cause more agitation and anger in the country, he doesn't have to drag the whole country into this through the ban.
