Popular Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi on Saturday called on the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government to be mature in accepting criticisms.

Gumi made the call while reacting to the ban on Twitter by the Federal Government.

Speaking with DAILY POST, Gumi said the Buhari-led government should “have a wide chest” in accepting criticisms from Nigerians.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, had disclosed the ban on Twitter yesterday.

Addressing a press conference, Mohammed had said the Nigerian government suspended Twitter’s operation in the country because Nigerians were using the platform for activities that threatened the country’s existence.

DAILY POST observed that Twitter was banned less than 72 hours after the micro-blogging site deleted a war inciting tweet by the President.

Reacting to the ban, Gumi warned that the Nigerian government cannot fight the media.

He stressed that social media platforms have allowed both the government and the citizens to always state their sides on issues.

According to Gumi: “The Federal Government should show more maturity in its actions, they can’t fight the media. The Federal Government should have a wide chest to accept criticism.

“They should not fight the media; platforms like Twitter, Facebook and other social media have given people the opportunity to hear from both sides.

“The Federal Government should try to be honest, frank and to engage. Government should have a wide chest not to allow delinquent youths to anger it into massacring people. The government should express such maturity to allow criticism and act accordingly.”

Captain Gumi's advice brings me to a story of my boy.
As a gentle kid growing up, he'd always come back home from school with scratches and bite marks from his classmates who bullied him.

I will further beat him for allowing himself to be bullied. I even told him I wasn't sure he was my son because NwaAmaikpe's kid should be the one tormenting other parents' kids and not the other way round.

"We were born warriors", I'd incite. "Make me proud please", I'd beg. "I want to be the father whose child is the source of other children's bruises"
Day after day, he'd still come home with bruises so I gave up on him and accepted that God had given me a weakling.

One day, his mom got a call that we were needed in the school.
We went there and saw our weakling standing besides a slightly bigger student, only that the bigger student had a broken nose and some blood gushing out of it.
The bigger student's parents were there too and they narrated how my son pummeled the other boy.

Out of excitement, I didn't let them finish. I told them it was a new development in him that must be properly managed without any kid gloves, I apologized to the other kid's parents then asked the school's proprietor to let me go home with my boy who was already panicking.
They happily did.

I jejely took him to a mega mall and asked him to spoil himself.
Dude packed toys and video games that were almost worth more than my salary but I didn't mind because I was the world's happiest dad.

So back to the subject matter.

When an army Captain who has accused Christian soldiers from the South as the major problem in the army criticizes an army General for seeing the South as the nation's problem doesn't it make you feel it is another case of NwaAmaikpe and his son?

first they used twitter to announce the ban of twitter in Nigeria, PMB’s advisers are either slow or they lost it completely, out of touch with reality, would banning twitter shut the voice of the masses
Since he imposed the ban have Nigerians stopped using the twitter platform to call him out
Adamu Garba Talba has been wanking off on every cyber platform over this poor decision PMB led administration took
As useless as a condom in a convent
