PROJECT PAD A GIRL CHILD BY HRM QUEEN EZEONYIDO .C. CHARITY (MISS IMO TOURISM 2020)

Project Pad A girl Child was introduced and carried out by HRM Queen EZEONYIDO .C. CHARITY (Miss Imo Tourism 2020) with the aim of supporting menstrual hygiene amongst poor and vulnerable girls in Imo state secondary school and Nigeria at large.

Project Pad A girl Child Initiative is a project borne out of the need to empower young girls and women who are going through various form of stigmatization, abuse and health challenges as a result of their natural monthly cycle, Menstruation is a natural biological process, menstruation is not a taboo, Let us work together to keep the dreams of our women and girls, alive.

For most poor and vulnerable girls in Nigeria, as signs of menstruation gets close, it serves as a constant reminder of the oncoming abuse and stigmatization they are about to face. What should be a proud period in their lives, turn out to be their most dreadful period.

For most of these girls, menstruation is a dream-killer because they never get to attend schools during menstruation. While for others who cannot afford a good menstrual pad, they rely on tissues, old rags and leaves as alternatives.

There is no gainsaying the detrimental health challenges faced by these poor girls and women as a result of these unhygienic practices. Some are sexually abused in their quest to look for money to buy menstrual pads.

Concerned about the high rate of young girls reaching puberty with little or no knowledge of it, HRM Queen EZEONYIDO .C. CHARITY (Miss Imo Tourism 2020), Carried out a project called ‘PROJECT PAD A GIRL CHILD’ which is targeted at educating young girls about that stage of their life.
The Project which was kicked-off at IKENEGBU GIRLS SECONDARY SCHOOL in Owerri, Imo State with over 500 pad shared to the students after her lectures, is expected to reach to more schools before the end of the year.
HRM Queen Ezeonyido Charity who emegerd Miss Imo Tourism 2020 last year said her passion for the girl-child made her to embark on the ‘PAD A GIRL CHILD’ project.
She added that the project is targeted at young girls of 11 to 15 years that are new to menstruation/puberty

HRM Queen Ezeonyido Charity further disclosed that she has been able to get some sponsors for the project through her brand director, MR CHRISTOPHER IKOKU (CEO CHRIS EVENT MODEL COMPANY).
She thanked to DR. MRS MENEKE who is the Senior Principal of IKENEGBU GIRLS SECONDARY SCHOOL, Owerri for giving her the opportunity to carry out her project in her school.
MR CHRISTOPHER IKOKU (CEO CHRIS EVENT MODEL COMPANY) and Organizer of MR AND MISS IMO QUEEN BEAUTY PAGEANT also thanked DR. MRS MENEKE stating that Ikenegbu Girls secondary is one of the most outstanding schools in imo state and appreciated her for welcoming him and his queen.
HRM Queen Ezeonyido Charity also extended her gratitude to ON GOD MEDIA, for sponsoring the media coverage of the project.
