SERAP Asks Commonwealth To Sanction Nigeria Over Twitter Ban, Repression by Tobbydhayor90: 9:15am On Jun 06, 2021 |
Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has sent an Urgent Appeal to Rt Hon Patricia Scotland QC, Secretary-General of the Commonwealth, urging her to “apply the Commonwealth Charter to hold the Nigerian government to account over the unlawful suspension of Twitter in Nigeria, and the resulting repression of human rights particularly the rights to freedom of expression, access to information and media freedom, as well as flagrant disregard for the rule of law.”https://serap-nigeria.org/2021/06/06/serap-asks-commonwealth-to-sanction-nigeria-over-twitterban-repression/ 6 Likes

The way this clueless Fulani government have exposed themselves to the world is mind-boggling Worst of it all is when all of us are termed Nigerians What can be more dehumanising and disrespectful than this union of backwardness and progress? It can never be well with Lord Lugard and his olosho girlfriend for uniting and terming us in this unholy contraption 30 Likes |

"China, North Korea etc. Banned Twitter, Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, were sanctioned and what not, but are still doing well". Is what some odès will say. The odès forget these countries are not 3rd world countries like Nigeria. 14 Likes 4 Shares |

Though I don't support the Twitter ban, I wish Facebook can be banned too. Facebook is the real Big Brother, and he's watching your every move. You might not know this, but social media is what is making your decisions unconsciously. It's deciding what you wear, spend your time and money on, how you feel, and react to situations around you. When you study the psychological mechanics used to develop these various algorithms, you discover that Facebook, Twitter, Google, and other giants decide who becomes President and who doesn't. If they don't like you, the algorithm will be against you, even if you budget billions as ad budget. Your negative aspects will be made viral, and your positivity repressed. The big admins behind these giant tech comps know what I'm saying. By making the algorithm to be more favorable to a certain candidate, social media users are drawn to vote for a familiar face stored in their subconscious mind, no thanks to continuous repetitive ads Delete all social media, and live again... Even without them, my business is flourishing... I don't need it, and maybe you don't too!!! 7 Likes 1 Share |

SERAP is a useless organization. How can you ask Commonwealth to Sanction Nigeria when you know that whatever sanction is applied will only affect Nigerians and not the political class. 3 Likes |

That would only affect ordinary citizens. You don't seem to understand this government. They are on a huge ego trip. They feel so belittled by the removal of the president's tweet. They can't believe that their words can be challenged by anyone. They live in cloud cuckoo and they have an unhealthy and an over-bloated sense of importance and self worth. I doubt that their ego will make them retrace their steps at this time. The sanction by Commonwealth will further push them to seek alliances with sharks like China and Russia. 4 Likes |
