Apple is known to not play when it comes to their users privacy and tracking when using the iPhone or other Apple devices, recently they made changes to the IOS operating system that will require app developers to ask users permission before tracking their app activity and information used for personalized ads, this was meant to give their user more privacy and transparency when it comes to data collection and how the data is used for ads and tracking.

Coming to Android, Google has stated that starting from Android 12 it will make changes that allow user to opt-out of ads tracking but not as Apple did. Developers will no longer have access to the user’s Advertising ID and if requested, it will return a string of zeroes.


According to google statement "Starting in late 2021, when a user opts out of interest-based advertising or ads personalization, the advertising identifier will not be available. You will receive a string of zeros in place of the identifier".

This change could affect Google since their money making machine is through running and selling of ads. Making the option Opt-out would allow those who aren’t aware of the option to continue to be tracked. It’s only when a user is informed and aware that the option exists that they can Opt-out. this changes are not yet implemented, "According to Google’s support page regarding the Advertising ID, the change will begin in late 2021 on devices running Android 12 and in early 2022 for all devices that support Google Play Services".
