Alumnus Calls Out Management Over ‘Fraudulent’ Miss UNIBEN [Full Text]

An Alumnus of the University of Benin, Mr Samuel Iyobosa has called on the Management of the University to place a ban on the Miss UNIBEN Beauty Pageant and other Events organised by individuals and brands without an harmonious agreement between the Students’ Union Government and the Organizers.

He made this call on the heels of several complaints, petitions and litigations against Mr Famous Okungbowa also known as UNIBEN Metro, CEO of Metro Events, Organizer of Miss UNIBEN, Campus Metro Spelling Bee and other Events.

One of such petitions is the press release by the Member Representing Ovia Federal Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Dennis Idahosa (DENCO), and the arrest of Mr Famous Okungbowa by the Nigerian Police Force, after the petitions from the Students’ Union Government Director of Socials and Students of the University who have fallen for his fraudulent activities.

Mr Iyobosa noted that the ban was necessary to further avert any form of extortion, harassment and fraud that may arise under the cover of hosting an Event on Campus.

“To the Management of the University of Benin, The Students Union Government and University of Benin Students.

“Haven Listened to the side of the story as explained by the Director of Socials, Students Union Government, Famous Okungbowa alias Uniben Metro has shown so much disregard on the authority of the Union.

“Famous Okungbowa boasted to the the Director of Socials that he can go ahead and organize Miss Uniben Pageantry with or without the support of the Union even when the Union requested for a proposal from him which was not properly treated.

“Viewing from the above and among others such as students paying to be nominated as contestants and being tasked to sell forms to the show as a requirement to move to other stages in the competition which is abnormal and other sexual harassment, threats and shady means to climb to the top stages in the competition as alleged, and many others as investigations continue, I put a call to the GOLDEN AGE Executives of the students Union and the management of the University of Benin to by these premises withdraw Mr Famous Okungbowa and his Brand from hosting any event of any kind in the University environment.

“In addition, I call on the authority of the University of Benin as a matter of serious and urgent concern place a Ban on any event as it affects and involves the students, Organised by any body, Brand or organisation without an harmonious agreement with the students Union Government under the Office of the President, Director of Socials and other authorities in concern.

“This is necessary to further avert any form of extortion, harassment and fraud that may arise under the cover of hosting an event in campus.

“I have so much demand to make but these are the few demands at the moment.”
