Did Twitter Promise To Obey The Laws Of Nigeria In A Tweet? by socialmediaman: 12:57pm On Jun 07, 2021 |
A screenshot of a tweet allegedly posted by Twitter claiming to be in communication with FG and promising to obey the laws of Nigeria surfaced online after the Twitter ban by FG. It had the words: [s]“We’re committed to peace, progress and freedom of speech of the Nigerian people. We have reviewed our actions and are in communication with the Nigerian government and promise to respect the laws and sovereignty of Nigeria #KeepitOn”[/s] This is completely false. The original tweet from Twitter was doctored. Here is the original tweet by Twitter on this issue: “We are deeply concerned by the blocking of Twitter in Nigeria. Access to the free and #OpenInternet is an essential human right in modern society. We will work to restore access for all those in Nigeria who rely on Twitter to communicate and connect with the world. #KeepitOn” Source: https://twitter.com/policy/status/1401151115022979076?s=21 seun lalasticlala, puskin, FOD, dominique, naijacutee, Mynd44, OAM4J 1 Like
