Several captives regained their freedom on Monday after spending months in captivity.

Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) has released several humanitarian workers and civilians abducted during attacks in Northeast Nigeria.

HumAngle understands that the aid workers were freed by the group on Monday alongside other civilian captives, after negotiations.

Among those released is a staff of the United Nations High Commission for Refugees abducted along the Damaturu-Maiduguri road in Jan.

HumAngle understands that the group also released a senior Christian cleric Reverend Zango and one Barka Wasinda, a former staff of the Nigerian Ports Authority and some aid workers abducted from a facility in Dikwa in March.

Dikwa, which lies about 90 kilometres from Maiduguri, the Borno state capital, was targeted in a series of attacks in March, April and May, and recently in June.

During the attack in March, the terror group overran the town, destroyed support facilities, including a primary health care centre, and also laid siege at the United Nations humanitarian hub, which forced aid workers to seek shelter in a bunker.

The United Nations suspended operations in response to the attacks on humanitarian operations in Dikwa and Damasak, affecting humanitarian assets and personnel.

HumAngle has learned that the aid workers and the other freed persons are receiving medical support.

More than 37,000 people have been killed, and millions have been displaced by the Boko Haram conflict, according to the Council on Foreign Relations’ security tracker.

Non of the released captives stayed less than 6months with renowned terrorists. That may be enough time to create a new cell of network. All us know how the naija military "debrief" will look like.
God will protect us Las Las

No more inspiring news about Nigeria again. If its not banditry, it's boko haram, or kidnappers, or about militiamen, or iswap or fulani herders. Yet they belong so same region of the north. This is enough reason we need to call it quits asap. If all these could be happening under a fulani-led government, what would happen under a non-fulani or a Christian president could be deadlier. The earlier we quit, the better for us. Boko haram surfaced during obj administration, like play, became wild under GEJ government to the extent that they were going on a suicide mission, which used to be alien to us as a country. What we have today isn't only boko haram. They've had branches all over.

Their stupid brothers called Herdsmen are threatening to attack Delta State but I want to tell them that it is only a child that doesn't know snake will call it rope.

Enough Is enough.

The madness should be restricted to the north.
