RYEOFARMS:All German Shepherds are working dogs, some may be bred strictly for working and the other for thier looks, but both lines are capable of doing work as that’s is the primary reason for a German Shepherd. Therefore getting a showline does not mean it will not be able to work. |

Eveezy:Oh Alright,I was just trying to understand better cos from what I know both lines are capable of working but the workingline is more suitable for work while the showlines aren't much of a working breed,as they have a lower energy level compared to the working lines, they're more of a companion dog type |

I believe he meant the breed line Slants are show line GSDs Long coats are almost all show line GSDs Regular or short coat /straight backs are almost all working line GSDs Note that working kind GSDs have been observed to be more suited for field and security work. Ideagatesauto: A dog from a working line is simply a dog that has papers to show it came from a line of working dogs or has history of work. Even Slantbacks (I dislike using this word) are working dogs if it has papers to show this. |
