Believe it or not, it was polonium that the CIA used in killing Abacha through Yasser Arafat. The same chemical killed Yasser Arafat due to carelessness by Arafat.

Polonium is a chemical element with the symbol Po and atomic number 84. A rare and highly radioactive metal with no stable isotopes, polonium is chemically similar to selenium and tellurium, though its metallic character resembles that of its horizontal neighbors in the periodic table: thallium, lead, and bismuth.

How does polonium kill

If polonium-210 enters the body, through inhalation, swallowing, broken skin, the results can be fatal. By mass, polonium-210 is one of the deadliest toxins, around 250 billion times more toxic than hydrogen cyanide.

America's Cia recruited Yasser To kill Abacha. They promised him speedy and favorable resolution of the Palestinian conflict with Israel. Arafat bit the bait! He uses his body guard to administer the poison on General Sanni Abacha through handshake. It was the mis-handing of that deadly substance that ultimately killed Arafat

Investigation into Arafat death

The scientists - from the Vaudois University Hospital Centre (CHUV) in Lausanne, Switzerland - carried out a detailed examination of Arafat's medical records, samples taken from his remains and items he had taken into the hospital in Paris where he died in 2004.

The biological materials included pieces of Mr Arafat's bones and soil samples from around his corpse.

The scientists concluded that their results "moderately support the proposition that the death was the consequence of poisoning with polonium-210".

Other people killed through polonium

Alexander Litvinenko was a former officer of the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) and KGB. After speaking critically about what he saw as corruption within the Russian government, he fled retribution to the UK, where he remained a vocal critic of the Russian state. Six years after fleeing, he was poisoned by two Russians in a suspected assassination.

Litvinenko at University College Hospital
On 1 November 2006, Litvinenko suddenly fell ill and was hospitalized. He died three weeks later, becoming the first confirmed victim of lethal polonium-210-induced acute radiation syndrome.[1] Litvinenko's allegations about misdeeds of the FSB and his public deathbed accusations that Russian president Vladimir Putin was behind his unusual malady resulted in worldwide media coverage.

Subsequent investigations by British authorities into the circumstances of Litvinenko's death led to serious diplomatic difficulties between the British and Russian governments

This is not correct in my opinion.

They said the symptoms starting immediately after the handshake with one of Arafat's body guides, since the effect is immediate, that suggest a kind of nerve agent, the fact that he took hours to die suggest that dose was very small.

My guess are
Nerve agent
Marine animal poisons,
Ricin
Purified snake venom

He could also have been poisoned with a slow acting poison prior to the arrival of Arafat and the poison's effect only started when he was with Arafat.

He could have been killed by his doctor by what he administered to him.

The most important thing is that people celebrated when he died.

Hmm...Sensitive thread.
If it was true, there are infact many poisons that could initiate a killing instantaneous by mere contact and later finish up the Victim with or without treatment, including, Aconitine, Hemlock, Methylmercury and even Arsenic.
The interesting part is that some of these substances are not rare and many occur naturally

God help us

I think you're right, death from radioactive exposure can't be that instantaneous and it's very unlikely that it can be transferred through a handshake, Nerve agent maybe.

Abacha died in 1998, Arafat in 2004.

If polonium is as deadly as you say, why did it take 6 years for it to kill Arafat?

The guy was smart, instead of being killed by world powers, he handed over sharply and went on with his life. If Hausa and Yoruba man can not save Nigeria, is it the ijaw man that will save Nigeria?

Polonium was found on Arafats toothbrush. The hunter later became bushmeat.

It is quite possible that Arafat did not know about the plot.

All they need to tell him is to allow a CIA agent to join him in is trip to Nigeria. They don't need to tell him what the agent will do when he gets to Nigeria.
