Using the dices in D& is simple: every roll of the dice results in either a hit or a miss. Learning to use the die is also simple: when a hit happens, the character takes damage equal to the number rolled, and if the roll was a miss, the character must Retreat (towards their side). For example, if your party's character sheet says you have a sixteen defense, you will only take one damage per defense point, no matter how many points you have on your character sheet. This makes D& a game that can be easy and fun for both the player and the DM, with all of its complex mechanics hidden behind the simple act of rolling the dice.

The beauty of D&amp is that it is a game where two people can easily and comfortably spend hours on end playing an intricate game of character building and exploration, without ever feeling as though they have been stripped of their individual identity or having their time wasted. D& is about more than just using dice to determine random results, it is also about creating believable characters that will engage with the players. Since you will always be using dice to determine the action and result, there is no need for a player to think past the basic act of spending a turn rolling the dice and seeing what the dice say.
