Football is the major sport in northern nigeria.
Arewa have been a region known for producing some of the greatest footballers from Nigeria especially kaduna. While kano pillers dominate the Nigerian premier league in the North kaduna have been known to produce the best footballers from that region.here are a few footballers to have made nigeria proud.
NOTE: only footballers that have played for the Nigerian football team(super eagles), meaning all others that played for another country are not listed.


Ahmed Musa:
Ahmed Musa (born 14 October 1992) is a Nigerian professional footballer who plays as a forward and left winger for Nigerian club Kano Pillars and the Nigeria national team.Musa became the first Nigerian to score more than once in a FIFA World Cup match, after scoring twice against Argentina in the 2014 FIFA World Cup.[2] Musa is also the first Nigerian to score in two FIFA World Cup competitions, after scoring twice against Iceland in the group stage of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.[3] Musa was a member of the Al Nassr squad that won the Saudi Premier League and Saudi Super Cup, both in 2019.

Tijani babangida:
Tijani Babangida (born 25 September 1973) is a Nigerian former professional footballer, who played as a winger. Known for his pace, his playing style was sometimes compared to that of Marc Overmars.[3][1] Babangida spent the majority of his playing career at Ajax. Overall, he played in five countries on three continents. At club level, Babangida spent nine years in Netherlands, playing for VVV-Venlo, Roda JC Ajax, and Vitesse.[4] winning the Eredivisie plus KNVB Cup double with the latter side.

Garba lawal:
Garba Lawal (born 22 May 1974) is a Nigerian former professional footballer who played as a left midfielder. In 2014 he became general manager at Kaduna United F.C.

As a player, Lawal had his most successful time at Roda JC in the Eredivisie. He also played for Julius Berger F.C. in Nigeria and Chinese side Changsha Ginde.[2]
In August 2009, he announced his return as a player-coach for Makurdi side Lobi Stars,[3] He was named General Manager of Kaduna United in February 2014.

Lawal is regarded as one of the most versatile players in the Nigeria national football team of the 1990s and early 2000s often being used for any position ranging from defence to attack on the left wing. Lawal took part at the FIFA World Cups in 1998, where he played a key role in the 3–2 win over Spain in Nigeria's first match of the tournament,[4] and in 2002. He won the Olympic gold medal in 1996. He represented Nigeria at four editions of African Cup of Nations: 2000, 2002, 2004 and 2006, scoring in all but the first.
