The Vice Chancellor University of Ibadan, Professor Isaac Adewole on Thursday expressed the institution's commitment to sustainable development.


The university administrator while speaking at the formal inauguration of the Centre for Sustainable Development (CESDEV) Suite in Ibadan noted that the centre was the first of its kind in Nigeria and indeed sub-Saharan Africa.

According to him, considering the history and pedigree of the university, it cannot afford to fail.

He recalled his vision and passion for the growth and development of the centre, saying "since the inception of my administration, "we have given full support for the centre's activities, part of which is the completion of this ultra modern suite."

While noting the challenges face by the centre, Professor Adewole challenged the director and his team to demonstrate resilience and resourcefulness on overcoming them.

He added that they should show the world that the centre was truly for sustainable development.

Earlier, the director of the centre, Professor Labode Popoola, disclosed that the centre is a teaching, research and development unit which offers high level short-term training and human resources development in different aspects of development as well as professional and academic programm
