The State Working Committee (SWC) of the Delta State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), rising from an emergency meeting, on Wednesday suspended the Senator representing Delta North Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Peter Onyeluka Nwaoboshi.

This development cannot be unconnected to the alleged recent romance of Senator Nwaboshi with stalwarts of the All Progressive Congress (APC).

In a press statement signed by State Publicity Secretary, Barr Michael Oso, the party maintained that the one-month suspension became necessary due to the recent romance with an opposition Party, verbal recklessness and unprovoked utterances of Senator Nwaoboshi, particularly against the person of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.

Recall that Senator Peter sparked rumours of his defection when he accompanied Deputy Senate President, Honourable Ovie Omo-Agege and another chieftain of the APC to commission a federal government road project in Asaba-Illah on April 25, 2021.

Also, the PDP State Working Committee said that the rash, unguarded, confused and heavily noxious, and vitriolic attacks of the embattled serving Senator were inimical to the peace and harmony of the Party and tantamount to causing discord and disaffection among loyal Party members.

While rumours of the Senator desire to aspure for the position emeged in recent months, the party declared that the suspension has become imperative and inevitable, especially given the dramatic spontaneity and overzealousness of his verbal attacks.

The party said that the recent onslaught against the leadership of the party oyn the state by Senator Nwaboshi is totally out of character and may have suspiciously been induced by circumstances which defy immediate rational analysis and comprehension.

“The matter has been referred to the State Disciplinary Committee, in order to afford Senator Nwaoboshi a fair hearing and the opportunity to appear before it and defend himself over his recent utterances and actions against the Party and its leadership, in the State.

Hence, the party urged all Party faithful to remain calm in the face of these provocations and maintain the peace, maturity, and Party harmony which have been and will continue to remain the hallmarks of our great Party.

What are we to understand by PDP Delta State actions at this point in time? Are they saying that PDP Senators are not participate in activities of Pricinpal Officers of the Assembly? To me PDP Delta State and Governor Okowa are baring thier fangs too early in the day, as it is today,b if PDP is not careful they will lose to APC in 2023.
Am of the opinion that PDP leaders should do the needful by reconciling members instead of the unnecessary suspension that is now a daily affair in PDP Delta. PDP members are seething with anger from Delta South to Delta Central even in Okowa Delta North, the Ndokwa people are marginalized. Okowa should think again.
