Can you hear the hypocrite talk? The world most useless President spent a whopping $1.9billion of Nigeria's money to build a railway for Niger Republic but wants to curb the menace of cross-boader petrol smuggling. 2 Likes |

Hmmm The artcle shows why subsidy must go in 3 reasons 1.NNPC is running out of money to subsidse fuel. For the last 2 months, no remittance, because....subsidy 2.The rising price of crude oil means that the cost of petrol is rising...which means a higher subsidy must be paid 3.Smuggling. IN Nigeria, fuel costs N165. In all our neighbors, it is above N300 (A Ghanaian even told me it is N400 in his country). So, anyone can buy fuel at N165 or less at depot price here , and sell it across the border AND make a sweet profit...and the only way you can stop it is by closing the border completely(which most Nigerians hate) or building a large fence around Nigeria. The summary of the article...subsidy is costing Nigeria too much money. Either it goes, or we are going to keep on taking loans to balance our books. (Abuse won't do me any harm. You can abuse me, but the truth is bitter. And yes, I am aware Nigerians are suffering...but even with subsidy we are suffering with debts and millions upon billions of naira lost. Choose your suffering) |
