Can A Muslim Commit Shirk Without Knowing? by Aketi2: 8:03pm On Jun 25, 2021
Muslims generally preach against idolatry. They detest idolatry to the extent of saying that if someone associates a partner or gives a divine attributes to any human, that person has committed shirk (idolatry). In Islam, shirk is the greatest sin that anyone can commit. It is unpardonable.

Muslims believe that Christians commit shirk when they ascribe divinity to Jesus. To them, Jesus was an ordinary slave of God, even when he did things that ONLY Allah can do. For example, he forgave peoples sin, instead of telling them that Allah has forgiven them their sins. He also knows the thoughts of people and is a Spirit from Allah.

Muslims generally are not permitted either in the Quran nor in the Hadiths to associate partners to God nor to attribute divine attributes to any man. However, they clearly practice shirk (idolatry) by their own definition of shirk without acknowledging it. Here are few examples that show that Muslims associate partner with Allah, especially as it relates to Mohammed.

The Shahada: The Shahada is an oath pledging that there is no other god but Allah. It goes like this " "I bear witness that none deserves worship except Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is the messenger of God''. Muslims scholars believe that the Shahada is not complete without adding the part that says "Mohammed is the messenger of God". Thus, making Mohammed complementary and necessary to establish Faith in Allah. Of all the 124,000 prophets sent to mankind according to Islam, none of them made the worship of Allah dependent on belief in them.

Mohammed's Title: Mohammeds real name was Qatham, but he adopted the title "the Praised One". Giving titles like this to humans are some of the reasons Muslims accuse Christians of shirk. Unfortunately, they are doing the same by attributing the title reserve for Allah to Mohammed.

Prayers for Mohammed: Allah, the Angels and the Muslim Ummah are always invoking prayers on Mohammed. This makes Mohammed the center of Gods creation. In the Al-Fathiha, Muslims pray to him directly as id he were an intercessor like Jesus. This is clearly attributing divinity to someone who clearly said that he was just a warner and cannot save anyone. He is so important that the Almighty God personally prays for him! This leads to a more complex situation of God praying to another God.

Obedience: Obedience to Mohammed translates automatically to obedience to Allah. This is exactly like Jesus saying whoever does not obey him will not be allowed into the kingdom of God. Although, Christians believe that Jesus is God and so does worship him. But that of Muslims is baffling given the fact that they clearly condemn Christians for this yet took to a different level. In the Middle East, someone can speak ill of Allah and get away from it, but he cannot survive a second if he does it with Mohammed. Thus, Mohammed is greater and more important that Allah according to Muslims. This does not make any sense at all.

I will like to read our comments on the issue. Thank you.
