Senior Software Engineer (VAS)

Job Location: Victoria Island, Lagos-state.

Job Nature: Hybrid (On-site/Remote)

Salary Range: N600,000 - N1,000,000

Job Profile

As a Senior Software Engineer (VAS), a typical day might include the following:

➢ Support the planning and development of value-added services (VAS) platforms and ensure compatibility with all Telcos infrastructure.

➢ Create network virtualization from legacy architecture to infrastructure sharing architecture

➢ Develop business cases and architecture for fresh deployment/upgrade/expansion of solutions which are inputs to new and existing solutions on aggregator platform

➢ Assist in the design, implementation and evolution of VAS Messaging, Mobile data, WAP, GPRS, Multi-media products etc.

➢ Monitor the license utilization on all VAS platforms, CPs and SPs. Ensure required actions are taken before licenses reaches the threshold

➢ Coordinate the integration of new products as it affects USSD, IPCC, SMS, MMS and other network elements

➢ Participate in vendor, CPs, SPs selection process to ensure technical input is significantly covered.

➢ Perform any other duties or responsibilities assigned by Manager, VAS Planning.

➢ Ensuring that incident and problem management processes and procedures are followed and adhered to standards.

➢ Communicating to end users, engineers, and operations

➢ Provide performance /capacity metrics and ad hoc reporting of the same

➢ Provide technical expertise and share knowledge with team as required

➢ Monitor the application performance and provide technical support as required

➢ Coordinate, schedule and follow up on all main actions linked to the VAS platform; Analyse periodically all events on the network, in order to establish corrective actions.

➢ Conceptualize, design and monitor procedures to manage all VAS platforms; preparation/ analysis of Logs (Short codes, SMS, Blast, etc)

➢ Develop documentation process and procedures for managing VAS network and provide the necessary information required for implementation.

➢ Planning/ implementation of systems and network checklists- perform engineering level network planning and design for all VAS platforms.

➢ Develop a global security plan to ensure safety of data and access to the platform.

➢ Ensure systems/ servers are always up, running and backed up.

➢ Design and implement systems capable of processing millions of requests simultaneously without failing.

➢ Perform engineering level optimization of apache, mysql and server resources to ensure optimal.

➢ Performance of current infrastructures.

➢ Attend to all TVL issues, complaints, problems etc on the VAS platforms.

You’d be a good fit if you have:

➢ A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering, or Electronic, Telecommunications and any Physical science

➢ 3-5 years of working experience in all aspects of web and mobile application development and management.

➢ Experience with UNIX/Linux system administration and web server configuration.

➢ Very strong technical background with a flair for technology management;

➢ Knowledge of Linux, scripting, or programming capabilities.

➢ Linux certifications will be a very strong advantage

➢ Domain name, service configuration and management; antivirus management and firewall configuration

➢ Programming skills (PHP, C,C++ and / Java); Operating systems/Database : Red-Hat Linux (Shell Scripting), Oracle DB, SQL)

➢ Mastery of at least 3 web technologies and proficiency in several others e.g. CSS, Golang, HTML, JavaScript, NodeJS, PHP, Python.

➢ Ex Deep understanding of server-side technologies, web security, cross browser compatibility challenges, mobile development anatomy, sms based stuff

➢ Great energy and enthusiasm with a positive, collaborative working style.

➢ Working knowledge of relational database design and management.

➢ Practical experience in writing test scripts for API testing and/or QA automation tools

➢ Fearless in the face of massive, daunting technical challenges

➢ Should be able to use the following technologies: Python, JavaScript (ES6), Golang, MongoDB , Node.js, HTML5, Elasticsearch, Linux (Command line knowledge such as BASH, ZSH, or FISH), Basic Understanding of Cloud Computing (AWS, GCP, Azure), Docker, Serverless Technologies.
