Men of Ogun State Police command have arrested two suspected cultists for attacking two residents of Orelope area of Ilogbo Ota, in Ado-Odo/Ota local government area of the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state , DSP, Abimbola Oyeyemi disclosed this in a statement on Monday .

The suspects ; Jamiu Okanlawon 20, and Oluwaseun Owoeye 30, were arrested on Sunday while they were in rival cult group supremacy battle .

Oyeyemi said the suspects were arrested, following a distress call received by the DPO Onipanu division, CSP Bamidele Job, that the cultists are on rampage, thereby making lives difficult for innocent members of the public.

The statement read “two members of notorious cult group, Jamiu Okanlawon 20 years and Oluwaseun Owoeye 30 years were on Sunday 27th of June 2021 arrested, while engaging a rival cult group in supremacy battle, at Orelope area of Ilogbo ota, in Ado odo ota local government area of Ogun state.

“The suspects were arrested, following a distress call received by the Dpo Onipanu division, CSP Bamidele Job, that the cultists are on rampage, thereby making life difficult for innocent members of the public.

“Upon the distress call, the Dpo mobilized his men, in collaboration with local vigilante and stormed the scene.

“On sighting the policemen, the hoodlums, who had already inflicted varying degrees of injuries on the duo of 45 years old Modinat Lawal and one Ope Saheed took to flight, but two amongst them were apprehended, while others escaped.

“Recovered from them are; one locally fabricated single barrel pistol, three live cartridges, one dagger casing and assorted charms.

“The two injured persons have been taken to hospital by the police for urgent medical treatment.”

The PPRO however said the Commissioner of Police, CP Edward Ajogun, has ordered the transfer of the suspects to the state Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for discreet investigation.

He added, “the CP also reiterated that, the war against cultism in the state is a continuous one, and the command will not rest until the vices is completely eradicated in all parts of the state.”
