Yesterday, the Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma set another historic milestone as he flagged off the state-wide training and sensitization on COVID-19 Action Recovery Economic Stimulus (CARES) program in the State. The Nigerian COVID-19 Action Recovery Economic Stimulus (NG CARES), a program of the World Bank in partnership with the Federal Government and State Governments, is aimed to protect the livelihood and food security of poor and vulnerable families, as well as facilitate the recovery of local economic activities in the participating States. In his remarks at the event flag off, Governor Uzodinma commended the World Bank for their support to Federal Government through the intervention program. The Governor further disclosed that the program was designed to mitigate the local effects of the pandemic on vulnerable households in the state, by ensuring food security and the safe function of food supply chains in all the 27 local governments in Imo State. He also gave the assurance of his commitment to leave no stone unturned in boosting the economy and alleviating poverty in the state - a task he says is also at the core of his #SharedProsperity administration. In closing, Governor Hope Uzodinma charged the facilitators of the training and sensitization program to champion innovative ideas that will help the state surmount the effects of the pandemic. The event which held at the Imo Trade and Investment Center was attended by the Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prof. Placid Njoku, and other top government functionaries. #ImoGaAdinma #ImoChukwu
