Congratulations on your new Job, Hope it gives you all the satisfaction you have ever dreamed of.
When you start working, they are certain people and events you meet in your office, these events have no official way of being handled and if not handled properly may turn out to be a disaster and make you quite uncomfortable in your place on work. Hope this helps
1. The Jealous Female: Every office has a Chick that is probably single, young and pretty and probably has all most of the office guys drooling over her and the presence of another female makes her a bit insecure. She is probably sleeping with the boss or a male colleague( even though this is not an absolute truth). She may beef you and make your job a little bit difficult.
2. The randy male colleague: When you are feeling a bit frustrated with the activities of your the jealous female, this nice guy comes on to console you. Probably says some nasty things about the chick and takes you out for lunch. If he is mobile he may offer to drop you off at home and pick you up in the morning. After some weeks he wants to take the relationship to another level.
HOW TO HANDLE THEM
For the jealous female, there is nothing much you can do. If you are the confrontational type, you may involve her in a supremacy struggle and probably overthrone her but remember that if you do that, you will end up becoming the jealous female when a new, younger and fresher female is employed. The best way to handle this is to ignore her, It will pass, and try as much as possible not to get involved in Office gossips especially if you are new, listen to all your colleagues may have to say but say very little of probably nithing. Give your self time to study the environment, try to get to understand the environment before making any comments.
As for the randy male, Honestly i will advice you to enjoy the attention, the free lunch and the free ride while it lasts cos it will not last long. However do not become attached to these things because you have to know where to draw the line. The truth is the guy is not looking for a proper relationship, he is just looking for a quick bang to add to his feathers. He probably does that to all the new female young intakes and maybe he has had a relationship with the jealous female.
Try as much as possible to do your job probably, and please have a focus, have a goal you set out for yourself to achieve and keep that in mind, it will make your work environment much more conducive for you, do not get involved in power struggles or in a love web that will affect your performance as a new employee, Set a goal for yourself and suprise yourself by achieving your goal before your deadline.
Good luck, Enjoy yourwork environment
