The meeting held by the association of provost of the college of medicine in 2017 resulted in the deans of medicine throughout Nigeria proposing a professional training fee for students from health sciences to the tune of 85k aside school fee.. Though the reason for such proposition is due to the decadence in medical education in Nigeria,this development would result in a decrease in meritocracy and reduction in the in flux of intelligent and diligent students who strive passionately to become admitted into medical schools in the federation due to lack of finances and MBBS, BDS, B.Nsc courses would almost be a program opened to only those who can afford it..Most of those who made this resolution at the summit enjoyed a free or very cheap medical education in their time but now the students of this present time would have to pay through their nose to get an averagely qualitative medical training...This is more demoralizing than the curriculum of medical school itself.
