YOUR CANDIDATURE IS TO SERVE THE PEOPLE AND BE GOVERNOR's AMBASSADORS, IJEBU NORTH LEADERS CHARGES APC CANDIDATES AS THEY GO FOR POLLS

As OGSIEC maintained it's 24th day of July as the election day, the All Progressive Congress, Ijebu North Local Government Chapter has intensify it's readiness to defeat all opposition parties in the local government. This is coming on the heels of a unification meeting held by the leaders where Candidates that are flag bearers for the local government election were unveiled.

The Secretary to the State Government in his address, express his delight seeing all the leaders of the party seated under a roof, he posited that it illuminates the beginning of a new dawn. He on his part advised the Candidates to always cohabitate peacefully devoid of any discrepancies and rancour and to always come back to tap from the wealth of experiences of the leaders.

"Your responsibility is to manage Ijebu North Local Government, I don't want you to surchange any one, never be intoxicated by power, this is because, your mandates are ordained by God. Every leader seated have an input in your candidature, respect and honour them in all you do", he said in part.

Speaking earlier, the convener, Sen Olabiyi Durojaye, noted that the meeting is premise to ensure united front, to get acquinted with the dossiers of the Candidates, to admonish and to present to them the reality of challenges posed before them if voted into the office by electorates.

The Ijebu North Apex leader maintained that top on the list of challenges that will be faced is solving the threat of insecurity, drug abuse amongst youths amongst others.
"You must show the virtues of leadership, you are the Chief stewards in the Local Government, your aspirations are not for self service nor aggrandizement but for selfless service and ambassadors of good governance. You are to serve diligently, be accountable and leaving a legacy for generations, having God first in all you do", he admonished.

Taking turn to speak, Otunba Augustine Olatunji Talabi hammered on the choice of the Candidates as divine ordination, citing Ecclesiastes 9:11 in part, "...the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong..." He furthered that no matter the minute of any position, it can change fortunes hence the Candidates when voted in should do all within their power to justify the trust reposed on them by the party. He cautioned on making oratory pledges as none of them knows what will be met in the council coffers. He submitted with a recitation of a famous JF Odunjo nuggets on right attitude and virtue.

Also speaking, Engr Oluyemi, Otunba Mrs Oduwole Adetoun and Hon Gbenga Nuberu advised the Candidates to surpass the achievements of their predecessors, avoid promoting segregations and to ensure a feedback mechanism is established between them and the party leaders as well as the Community.

While addressing the Candidates, Hon Ademola Balogun, Hon Sojirin and Alh Moibi charged the Candidates to work in synergy, to plot an achievement chart in their respective offices that will guide them over months or quarterly. The trio emphasised on empowering members of the party as embedded in the party's manifesto and to out more plantation if developmental projects that will aid the party during general electioneering campaigns come 2023.

Rt Hon Adetokunbo Oshin while taking the Candidates on a practical lessons of what to expect at the Council pointed that war of words is inevitable between the Executive arm and the Legislature, he however cautioned the Councillorship Candidates never to engage in exchange of punches or throwing of chairs no matter the temptation, frustration or provocation but rather should sort every grey areas amicably or bring it forth to leaders if unresolved. He charged the Councillorship Candidates to listen raptly to the yearnings of each sediments that makes up their ward and lobby same at the Council. He advised the Chairmanship Candidate to do away with sycophants, gossips and to resist any embezzlement attempt from any quarter as his name is majorly at stake either positively or otherwise.

Hon Slyvester Abiodun, member of the House of Assembly, congratulated the Candidates, with a charge to be good ambassadors of the party and their Community, reminding them that this is only a stepping stone to a better position in future.

Appreciating the Leaders on behalf of all the Candidates, Omobolaji Oluwaseun Odusanya, the Chairmanship Candidate expressed his joy over the leaders-studded meeting, which according to him, is unprecedented and hope that it shall remain so for a rebirth of a new Ijebu North. He pledged to abide by the various advises of the leaders and to always consult them as often as possible. His words;

"We will adhere to your admonitions, we shall ensure this unity will continue. We are happy and honoured for the privileged given to us to serve as your stewards, we assure you of our devoted and unflinching loyalty to the party and your leadership, we shall make you proud", he noted.
