Nsit Ubium Politics :Ubium North Ward 2 Adopts Esen Asuquo Akpanibiok as Political Leader

... Former Female Council Boss, Ward Chairman, others affirm adoption

The stakeholders and political leadership of Ubium Ward 2 of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Tuesday, 6th July adopted Hon. Esen Asuquo Akpanibiok, a former councilor and council secretary as the Political leader of the ward.

Rising from a meeting held at the ward Chairman's house in Ikot Okwot Ubium and presided over by the ward Chairman, Hon Elder Imaikpo James, stakeholders and ward Exco members in the ward unanimously appended their signatures in approval of the adoption.

Speaking at the event, the ward Chairman, Elder Imaikop James said that all the controversies that had earlier surrounded the ward leadership has been resolved.
He said that the rotational policy of ward leadership saw Ikot Okwot Ubium held the position and at the expiration of its tenure, it was Ikot Esen turn to present itself for the leadership position of the ward.
He further stated that with the emergence and adoption of Hon. Esen Asuquo Akpanibiok from Ikot Esen as ward leader by stakeholders of the party, sons and daughters of Ikot Esen, concerns that had earlier been raised has been settled.

Also Speaking at the event, the councillor representing Ubium Ward North II, Hon. Mrs Udeme Friday Johnny thanked the ward excos for the love and bond between the excos and her members.
She noted that an agreement had existed within the ward which comprises : Ikot Okwot Ubium, Ikot Esen, Atiamkpat and Ikot Ossom with a mandate on Ikot Esen to present a credible son for the leadership position in the ward, an instruction she said was adhere to by Ikot Esen through the presentation of Hon. Esen Asuquo Akpanibiok as their sole representative for the position,an action she says has further strengthen the hope of the people in the ward.

In her contributions , a former Chairman of council and the First elected female Chairman, Nsit Ubium, Dr(Mrs) Dora Bassey advised politicians not to fight the authority that be, as the scripture has even kicked against such.
She said that the choice of Akpanibiok is a perfect choice for the people of Ubium North Ward II,praying for continuous peace in the ward.
Accepting the leadership position bestowed on him, Hon. Esen Asuquo Akpanibiok thanked God and the people for the love shown him. He prayed for the repose of the soul of a former political leader of the ward, Late Engr. (Elder) Bassey G. Bassey.
He assured the people of leading with the fear of God and promised to provide a level playing ground for all party faithfuls.

Those who also spoke at the event include, the ward women leader, Hon. Alice Eno Jimmy, the Vice Chairman of the ward, Hon. Affiong Sunday Sunday, A former councillor, Hon. Blessing Mbakara, ward youth leader, Mr Friday Udo Akpan(Asabo) and other notable stakeholders and supporters of the party.
