MEDICAL LAB SCIENTIST (MLS) / LAB TECHNICIAN

Duties and Responsibilities

Perform a variety of routine blood drawing procedures to include venipuncture techniques using standard equipment to include vacutainer tubes and sleeves, tourniquets, syringes, and needles
Verify specimen identification and appropriateness of sample type/volume/container for the indicated testing.
Confer with the patient to obtain information for laboratory records, explain procedures, allay fears and elicit cooperation.
Utilize standard procedures for the maintenance of positive patient identification; record appropriate collection information on proper requisitions
Preparing, processing, labeling, and storing patient specimens and samples of procedures using standard techniques and equipment, for subsequent analysis by clinical laboratory staff.
Handling of small Laboratory equipment e.g. Centrifuges, Microscope, Chemistry Analyser, Thermometer, timer, pipette, etc.
Maintaining inventory of supplies; reorder as required; stock supplies on carts and hand trays.
Recognize questionable results, equipment malfunctions, and technical problems then take timely steps to resolve them under the supervision of a Doctor or Medical Laboratory Scientist
Follow established guidelines for missed collections, recollects, and difficult phlebotomies
Instruct patients in a sensitive and understandable way on the proper collection method for urine samples.
Good lab/housekeeping
Any other duties that may be assigned.

Qualifications / Experience

Must be a certified laboratory technician from a recognized school of Health Technology with a minimum of 1-3 year(s) working experience in hospital settings.
Must possess a current Practice License from the relevant body.
Must be Computer literate
S/He should be able to multi-task; capable of handling several issues at the same time to deliver results and meet desired deadlines
Must be a fast learner
Applicants must be patient-friendly and have client-care etiquette.
Must have good communication and analytical skills.
Effective Laboratory Quality Management System skills
Good Chemistry Analysis and Perfect Handling of Chemistry Analyser (for MLS)
Effective Laboratory data management and research literacy skills

REGISTERED NURSE /REGISTERED MIDWIFE

Duties and Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing care to patients while adhering to compliance standards.
Strictly adhere to clinical guidelines and standard operating procedures set by the hospital management.
Administer medications, monitor desirable and undesirable effects and intervene appropriately.
Ensure that patients are provided with appropriate nutrition.
Demonstrate required assessment and therapeutic skills.
Analyse the assessment data, derive nursing interventions, set priorities according to patients’ needs, formulate a plan of care, implement and evaluate the outcome.
Involve the patient, significant others, and health care providers in the plan of care when appropriate.
The ideal candidate goes one step further by being a critical thinker, fast to act in emergencies.

Qualifications / Experience

The candidate must be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria as staff nurse (RN) / Midwife (RM).
Applicant must have at least three (1-3) years’ experience in taking delivery and must possess a current practicing license.
Treat patients and families with care and respect while maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality.
Must have clinical experience in direct patient care.
Excellent knowledge of aseptic and sterile techniques.
Solid understanding of patient safety and precautions.
In-depth knowledge of surgical operation procedures.
Outstanding organizational ability.
Ability to use EMR, MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint will be added advantage.

PHARMACY TECHNICIAN

Responsibilities

Select the appropriate medicine and measure dosages to fill prescriptions.
Sort, stock, label medication and monitor inventory.
Work under the supervision of a pharmacist
Be familiar with stocks.
Count and label medications.
Respond to basic inquiries/questions and refer patients to the pharmacist.
Maintains honesty, integrity, confidentiality, and high levels of efficiency and accuracy at all times.
Perform and monitor inventory management, both behind the counter and in the general pharmacy area.
Respond to customers request for medications, medical equipment, consumables, and consumers' goods.
Assist in organizing and shelving medicines and other goods.
Assist the Administrative duties like inventory management as and when needed.
Undertake other duties as may be assigned.
Qualification: Posses the necessary qualification recognized by the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria.

Qualifications / Experience

Successful completion of a pharmacy technician program
Certified Pharmacy technician is an asset.
Minimum of two (2) years’ relevant experience
Proven experience as a pharmacy technician.
Knowledge of medication and dosage measurement.
Knowledge of pharmacy law and medical terminology.
Outstanding organizational skills.
Pleasant personality with good customer service and interpersonal relationship.
Reliable with a keen eye for detail.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Experience in an hospital will be an added advantage.
