The provost of the College of Arts and Animal Science in Zamafara State, Habibu Mainasara, has been abducted by armed bandits.

It was gathered that Mainasara was kidnapped at his official residence in Bakura earlier today.

This sad event follows the killing of 40 farmers in a raid on five villages in Zamfara State.

Similarly, bandits were reported to have invaded the palace of the Emir of Kajuru and abducted him alongside some members of his family.

Heinous activities of bandits have heightened insecurity in the northern part of Nigeria and has crippled academic activities in the region.
