The OP just exposed his ignorance of the northern culture. Pantami is the name of his town or village. It is typical of northerners of the Hausa or Fulani extraction to include the name of where they came from to their birth names. Like Aminu Kano, Usman Katsina, Maman Daura, Musa Bida etc. So it is an optional name. The reason it is bracketed. Northerners are very proud of where they come from. Where there are many Ibrahim Alis, adding their village to them will create a distinction and people can easily recognize which of them is being referred to. Also, many northerners are proud of where they come from and will add their home towns to their children name especially if they are raising such children outside their home town. This culture is also similar to the Arab culture. For example Albagadadi is from Bagdad the capital of Iraq
