Nigerians Hope For A Better Democracy..... Hon. Abayomi Sheba

I think that Maybe the reason we love Nigeria is that it is a place where people are free not to love it.

In today's Nigeria, criticism is constant, disagreement is perpetual, and our understanding of our own history is constantly challenged.

Daily, our leaders continuously think of new and improved ways of solving the nations problems and daily the citizens are in a restless place where the cost of living is so high beyond their reach and things are either never good or never enough.

Nigerians are passionate and patriotic especially when it comes to matters that concerns nation building, national growth and development. We honor, identify and defend our national symbols with such ferocity that our protests are frequently organized around them.
These patriotic actions by nigerians could be seen during the #endsars protests and various protests at the NATIONAL ASSEMBLY.

In some quarters these protests and actions by nigerians maybe wrongly described as disrespectful but on the contrary nigerians are answering to a national call to duty and service delivery , where the national anthem says
"ARISE O' COMPATRIOTS
NIGERIA CALL OBEY"
" TO SERVE OUR FATHERS LAND WITH LOVE AND STRENGTH AND FAITH"

Nowadays our attitudes towards our founders though not surprising is becoming complicated.
But i know that after all these extraordinary issues which includes struggles for secession, national identity, insecurities and bloodshed, Nigeria will turn into something though not perfect but closer to a democracy.

There is a long history, encompassing each of as Nigerians, though It seems obvious today, that most of our leaders have defaulted on their promissory note. This makes us as citizens of Nigeria concerned.
According to Martin Luther King Jr “But we refuse to believe that the bank of justice is bankrupt.”
The refusal to give up on this Nation Nigeria is in itself an act of protest and also an act of patriotism. So let us continue to demand from our leaders the redemption of their promissory notes
