A. Let us first of all define the word “Management”.
1. It is defined to be a process of planning, decision making, organizing, leading, motivation and controlling the human resources, financial, physical and information resources of an organization to reach its goals efficiently and effectively.
2. Management is also defined to be a process of setting and achieving goals or visions of the family through the execution of these basic five management functions which include; planning, organizing, staffing, directing and controlling the utilized human, financial and material resources. This definition stresses the activities that are necessary for reaching particular goals.
With these definitions, we are going to discuss on how a family will be able to achieve its goals in this critical moment.
B. Who are the people in this family?
In every family, it is expected to have a father, mother, children, house help, even a servant or less than this.
Whether the family members are twenty or three in number, what we really want to discuss is how this family can meet its family needs, such as feeding, clothing, housing, academic responsibilities, etc. Hosea 4;6, Prov. 29:18.
C. Who are the managers of this family?
They are the man (Husband) and the woman (wife). The man is the Architect of the family while the woman is his subordinate and the builder.
The mangers should do all they could in order to redeem the time because it is full of evil, Eph. 5:16 – 17, Prov. 14:1-2.
D. The Man:
1. The man, as the head of the family, should plan for the family’s provision, Eph. 5 and makes sure he manages all the resources well.
E. The Woman:
1. The woman, as the subordinate, helps this man to achieve his needed goals and plans, Prov. 14:1. She does all she can to sell this man’s vision to all the members of the family.
2. The bible says, “To everything, there is a season and a time to every purpose under the heaven” Eccl. 3:1. That means that the family managers must always do everything on time and not late, 2 Thess. 3:10, 1 Tim. 5:8 Chro. 12:32.
3. These family managers should do all they could to manage also the characters of the children, to the Glory of God, not comparing them with the worldly children in the church. (See Abraham, Gen. 18:17-19 and the family of the Rechabites, Jer.35:1-6).
4. The word of God should be their family’s watch word, Psa. 119:9-13.
5. The children’s responsibilities are to obey their parents, Jer.35:1-6, help their parents financially if they have source of income.
6. The parents should carry their children along in the pursuance of their goals to enable them to achieve their goals.
7. The man, being the head of the family, should all the time gather his family members at the family altar for the prayers.
8. Every family member should be diligent in whatever they are doing. With this, they will certainly achieve their family goals in a time like this,
In summary, if all the members of the family will concentrate in doing the will of God and in prayer, God will help them to be great in an evil time like this.
