Nigerian want everything that will give them free and fair elections and one of them that is being discussed at moment is electronic transmission of results. I am not in support of it not because of flimsy reasons giving by national assembly members that oppose it but because of nature of political environment in Nigeria.
Transmission of results is a part of electronic voting with its own serious challenge. The system can be hacked by expert which has happened in USA many times. Nigeria politician can not do what Algon did. The outcome of any claim of system hacking will be worse than what we ever seen.
Giving legal backing to electronic transmission of results means the results will also be valid as the manually collated results. Then if the results electronically transferred is different from the one manually collated, which one will INEC adopt and announce.
Manually collated results can be recheck and error corrected if any but immediately, it transmitted, corrections almost become impossible.
Only poling unit offers and agents will be aware of figures transmitted to server, these people can be easily bribed to transmitted wrong figures just to confused the system by loosing party.
Nigerian elections is always do or die affair so electronic voting should not be introduced at this moment to save guid our democracy and the country at large. This will be counter productive in a country where politician have already accusing one another of intention to rig 2023 elections in 2020.

My opinion.
