Why are Yoruba muslims generally more backwards albeit more flamboyant than Yoruba Christians in terms of education, technocrats, wealth, etc?. Is the trend related to the orientation given to them by Islamic religion compared with the wealth of knowledge received by more progressive Yoruba Christians?.  Please vote.

Just like the Hausa-Fulani are in charge of Nigeria for the most part yet they are the poorest of the bunch. Yoruba muslims may control the govt for now but the Christian counterparts are by far richer and well educated. What is the reason behind that?. 40% votes here already are pointing fingers at Christians and their discrimination yet the govt belongs to the muslims. Who is discriminating against who?.

Yorubas seem to be falling for this trap - hook, line and sinker! This is just a trap to get Yorubas to argue against each other over religion for the ibos to relish.

Fact is, be it Muslim, Christian or Osun worshiper, Yorubas don't give a hoot about religious differences. Our culture is so strong so much so that it binds us irrespective of our religious orientation. As opposed to some, a Yoruba christian believes that the muslims serve the same God, hence the reason why you see us getting on swimmingly.

I am a christian whose background is Islam. I have muslim names, yet, i've never practised the religion. 95% of Yoruba christians have muslims in their family, that if not immediate, then it would be extended.

We don't fight over religion so abeg find something else to say. Try harder!

^^^^^^^^well I don't know but Muslims in general; reject education only Qur'an education so as a result they are illiterates. Any form of education besides Qur'an education is bad to them, especially Hausa Muslims. It is not as extreme with Yoruba's

you thing progress and western (english) education is superior to any other? the english they taught you is it written in english script? no. it is roman script. the countries that are rapidly growing in the world like iran, china, brazil are they development b/cos these countries are christians, no. to ur mind english is the only language that qualifies one to be literate, isn't it? that is why if the yoruba & hausa muslims learn to read the Qur'an which is in arabic, they are still illiterate. na wa for ur mind o.

How can they be backward when they control the state apparatus. and maybe rightly so because they are the most traditional and the ones partially responsible for sustaining our yoruba culture.

yorubas are proof and evidence that christians and muslims can coexist peacefully.
muslims on average tend to be less wealthy materially. but they are very wealthy spiritually. and we christians need to emulate that in our faith sometimes.
