NB Terminal Service commissioned GREENLIGHT Royal Integrated Limited Lagos, to carry out Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for the proposed project. This is a statutory requirement by National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) and the Lagos State Ministry of Environment. The EIA complies with local and international best practices, the Lagos State Envitonmental Laws and Standards, the National Guidelines and Standards for Environmental Pollution Control (established by Decree 58 of 1988) by the Federal Ministry of Environment (FMEnv), Environmental Impact Assessment Act. CAP E12, LFN 2004, and other relevant National Regulations.
The proposed Cargo Terminal Jetty Project will result in various interactions between planned activities and the environment. It is the policy of NB Terminal Services Limited to conduct its activities to take foremost account of the environment, safety, and the security of the persons and property that may be affected directly or indirectly by its activities.
EIA is a project management tool aimed at supporting the goals of environmental protection and sustainable development, through minimising environmental impacts and integrating environmental protection and economic decisions at the earliest stages of project design and planning.
