A football player identified as Jonah has died after he slumped during a football match in Nasarawa State, Reports.

Details of his death are still sketchy at the time of this Report, however, it was gathered that the incident happened at the weekend in Angwa- Ali in Akwanga Local Government Area of the state.

"Rest in peace.... Friend who turn brother... Akwanga will miss u, Depot football team will miss u, Angwa-ali will miss u but I will miss u more" Okefu Abraham wrote on Facebook.

The young athlete most likely died from a cardiac arrest. A cardiac arrest can happen to the fittest of persons without a symptom.

Boom! The heart of a man who was very healthy just stops.

It happened to Christian Eriksen at an international stage recently. We believed that sports stakeholders, especially those at grassroot levels, would learn the importance of timely CPR and a defibrillator for cases like this.

My thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and teammates.

not just sports...it should be taught in schools in Nigeria like it's been done in the western world...CPR ,swimming and other basic live saving skills should be part of the basic education in Nigeria and not those nonsense they add to the curriculum...
