Business owners along Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos has recanted the statement that the officials of Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA), asked them for gratification when they came for inspection on July 19, 2021.

According to the spokesman of the association, Stephen Okere, they were misinformed by the gate man of one of the properties that LASBCA officials inspected their premises.

He said that LASBCA officials and Murtala Muhammed Airport Road business owners are partners in progress and never at daggers drawn.

Okere said that even though all the LASBCA officials are not saints, just as it is in every other group or association, most of them are committed to professionalism and etiquette. He said that the association regretted the statement which painted all the LASBCA officials with one brush, adding that they are apologizing to the agency for the embarrassment that they have caused on
them.

His words, “We ,the members of Murtala Muhammed Airport Road business owners association, profusely apologize to the officials of Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA),for the embarrassment that we caused on them following the press conference that we made last week.

We were misled by the workers in one of the business premises that the officials inspected on that day. As law abiding business owners, It is not in our character to be trouble shooting or fighting government officials. We appreciate the harmonious relationship that has been existing between us and the Lagos state government and we will never do anything to jeopardize it. We also want to use this medium to commend LASBCA officials for the face-lift it has given to the Murtala Muhammed airport road by getting rid of shanties and other unbefitting structures.”

He said that international airport road everywhere in the world gives visitors the impression of what the country is like and that LASBCA officials is doing a lot to ensure that Lagos airport road maintains international standard.
