Exclusive Interview With Honourable Eze Onyeka CEO, Stress Free Door And Home by stressfreenig(m): 8:48pm On Jul 28, 2021
Honourable Eze Onyeka is the Managing Director, CEO, Stress Free Doors and Homes. As the name implies, Stress Free, the company has taken it as sole responsibility in the midst of insecurity, sub-standard doors and building materials to create awareness and supply Nigerians world class doors and building materials meant to protect homes and offices with God being our eternal security. Excerpts:

Stress Free Doors and Homes, what service does it render in the economy?

We specialise in sales and services of stress-free security doors, toilet glass doors, armoured doors, PVC doors, Jacuzzi; interior and exterior building materials like stainless staircase rail, PVC ceilings, and all kinds of tiles; sanitary wares of all kinds and other building fittings.

Some of these security doors you mentioned are still strange to some Nigerians, tell us when and how to use them?

We have what we call stress-free security doors and there is the one called stress-free armoured doors. Armoured doors are bullet proof doors that can resist bullet shots from a distance, and stress-free security doors are high quality security doors that can resist a hard object like hammer and all the rest of them.

They are highly fortified for the use of interior and exterior of your building with their locks solidly fixed with other fittings. It’s anti-rust and water resistant. Other doors like glass doors are for fancy and decorations and we have interior panel doors that are wooden doors with Switzerland’s standard and not Chinese type of qualities. Because we are here to make a difference, our products are outstanding and ready to remove stress for people who purchase them. We are also into servicing the people with such information having discovered today that the world is looking for the right people, trusted, reliable and competent in any field of endeavour. What I’m saying is that when you have competent and reliable people to install your products, automatically you are stress free.

With the security lapses in the country, how can you recommend them for individuals and corporate organisations?

Even though they are not eternal defense, God remains our eternal defense, but the good aspect of it is that they are of a high quality standard that if you eventually are able to afford their prices, they can as well give you the maximum security that you need.

Is Nigeria a good place for the market?

Nigerian environment is a good market for these products. People can get it, at least if not any other thing, the security challenges in the country which we know that government is making a concerted effort to protect her citizens.

On sanitary wares

Some of the sanitary wares like Jacuzzi are used for massaging and thereafter they relieve you of stress after the day’s labour. You can relax on Jacuzzi to massage your system and by so doing it takes away stress from your body system and you relax normally ready for the next day’s activities. We have also the modern WC washing basins and others that give you a better comfort in the home.

How is demand for these products in the Nigerian market?

Our challenge now is not demand, the demand is high because people are beginning to realise that there are original doors in the market. Like some local security doors are like waterproof but somebody can use hands to break them. Initially, we found it difficult to break even and people were telling us that door is door, but as time went on they began to realise that local security doors can’t stand the test of time; their colours began to fade. So people have realised the difference in quality. However, what we offer people are products that are bent on satisfying their needs, add value to their lives and comfort, for those conscious of their money. Presently, we are not meeting up with the demand in the market.

What are the challenges of importing these quality products into Nigeria?

Actually, we don’t encounter much challenges in the area of clearing them. The aspect we are facing challenges is on high duty payment. We pay high duty rate before clearing these goods. The volume of money we pay when clearing these products is equivalent to the value of the products. We are pleading with government to reduce this high duty rate of payment. It is a big challenge to importers in this country.

How do you advise builders both in the urban cities and rural communities on security doors?

I advise that Nigerians should value their lives by adding meaningful value to it, and protect their homes with security doors. They should not value money more than their maximum home security. They should look out for quality products like stress-free products that would endure the test of time. Nigerians should avoid the temptation of going for sub-standard products because they are cheaper. Stress reduces strength, it terminates lives. With stress you can’t enjoy your life. Quality products give you comfort, it enhances your strength and gives you peace of mind.

What role do you think government can play in the area of importing these products?

Actually one of the roles government can play in this business is to help reduce duty cost of these products coming into the country, and at the same time, look into the quality system to help an average Nigerian who has decided to maintain name and not just after money. Government should consider ways they can give maximum support to entrepreneurs in this country to succeed because we help to reduce unemployment in the country.

Are you into other businesses apart from this?

Yes. We are not into security doors alone. We are into all that pertain to building materials.

Our reason of doing that is because we want to eradicate poor quality building materials. and give people value for their money. We are after standard and that is the reason we procure these products from Italy, Switzerland, Turkey and other countries where quality standards are not compromised. Another reason is because we have discovered that home is one of the relaxation centre. If your home is comfortable it can as well enhance your productivity, creativity and life. We also find out that why many Nigerians are not creative and less productive is because of the environment they found themselves.

Therefore, if your environment is well taken care of, it can help bring out the best in you.

As a door merchant, can security doors be manufactured in Nigeria considering the fact that Nigeria is among other countries that has the best woods?

Security and bullet proof doors can’t be manufactured in Nigeria because it is not made of woods. It’s only panel doors that are made of wood. At the same time panel doors can be manufactured in Nigeria if the necessary equipment is available.

Do you have any plan with your partners abroad to set up a plant here?

We have discussed that, it is in our mind but the biggest challenge manufacturers are facing in this part of the world is power supply. A lot of companies are no more operating because of power supply. So how do you bring in foreign partners to run production with diesel and still pay NEPA bill at the end of the month, you can’t convince them on that.

After 10 years, how successful is the company?

The level we are operating today is beyond our expression, God is helping us tremendously. So far, so good.
