Management of The Federal Polytechnic Offa, Kwara state has orientated the newly admitted students for 2020/2021 academic session on the rules and regulations and general code of conduct of the Polytechnic.

The orientation ceremony was held on Thursday, 29th of July, 2021 at the 1,000 capacity auditorium, Main Campus.

The Rector, Dr. Lateef Olatunji in his opening address said the new intakes are lucky to sail through to be admitted into the Polytechnic and implored the students to stay away completely from any act of drug abuse, cultism, stealing, physical and sexual assault, adding that the Polytechnic has zero tolerance for the vices.

According to him, “If you are guilty of any these vices, the Polytechnic will not desist to take the appropriate sanction, which may include summary withdrawal."

Also speaking, Dean, Directorate of Examinations, Mr. Lawal Tunde admonished students to protect their studentship by not indulging in examination malpractices. He advised the students to always get to the examination venue 30 minutes before the stipulated time and never enter the venue with incriminating materials.

He said, " Examination and character are the two measures that we use to determine whether you are worthy of the certificate of this great institution. Conduct yourself very well and do do not enter the venue with incriminating materials."

While analyzing the examination offences, Mr. Lawal said: " Any digital electronics whether working or not are prohibited."

The prohibited electronic materials include: Handset, Digital Wristwatch, electronic pen, earpiece among others.

Speaking further, the Dean of Examinations added that exchanging question papers, answer booklets, writing on the question paper, jotting on palms, laps, speaking inside examination hall, indecent dressing, untidy hair cut, act of hooliganism to other students, invigilators are serious offences that are prohibited in examination hall.

The Deputy Registrar SERVICOM, Mr. Omole emphasizes on discipline and morality on campus. He added that students are free to report cases of extortion, sexual harassment, threat and physical assault to SERVICOM without any fear.

While the Polytechnic Chief Security Officer, Mr. Moshood Ibrahim beseeches students to be security conscious at all time and report any untoward incidents to the security personnel on campus.

The Dean of Students' Affairs, Dr. Waheed Balogun congratulated the students, he charged them to abide by all rules and regulations of the Polytechnic and always tailor their grievances to the Directorate of Students' Affairs.

Other speakers at the programme are Engr. Dr. Ajao and Mrs Ronke Adeshina, Director of ICT and Deputy Registrar Academics respectively.
