Another two academic staff of Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State have completed their postgraduate studies under the scholarship partnership between the University and the French Government.

Ikenna Kelvin Chima of the department of Geology/Geophysics, Faculty of Physical Science bagged a doctorate degree in Sedimentology and Stratification in University of Sorbonne, France.

Lucky Nte of the department of English and Literary Studies, Faculty of Humanities, on the other hand, bagged a Masters in Linguistics/Anglophone Studies from the University of Lyon, France.



The Postgraduate Scholarship partnership which was consummated in 2016 has facilitated the travelling of 42 academic staff of the University to France for further studies in different fields. The partnership is also the first of its kind in the Nigerian University system.

While receiving the scholars yesterday in his office, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Sunday Elom noted that the essence of the partnership is to have a critical mass of internationally-networked and bilingual academics in the University, adding that with that, the institution will be the most sought-after institution in the Gulf Guinea.



The Vice-Chancellor further praised the dedication and seriousness of the lecturers which made them to complete their studies on time. He also thanked them for coming back to the University at the end of their studies, urging them to deploy their ideas and experience to the growth and development of the University.

The staff were presented to the Vice-Chancellor by the Director, AE-FUNAI/French Centre, Prof. Nnenna Nwosu-Nworuh.
