The Arewa Youth Consultative Forum National President, Yerima Shettima, said BBNaija promotes immorality and sexual content; hence should be banned in Nigeria.

Speaking with DAILY POST, Shettima described the reality television show as a calamity that Nigeria should not encourage.

According to Shettima: “It’s a calamity as far as I am concerned; I have never believed in BBNaija and do not believe it is right because the show is an act of immorality. Such a show should not be encouraged.

“I have often said this show promotes immorality and the Nigerian government should please ban it, it should not be allowed to be aired in our country.

“You see, a lot of people watch to see immorality acts, those sex things displaying their unclothedness, and they have made it look like a ‘blue film;’ so, this must be discouraged.

“I urge true lovers of the country to join hands and call the attention of the government on the implication of this programme which must be discouraged.”

Over the years, BBNaija housemates have been caught on camera having sex or involved in other forms of sexual activities.

In the current season, Angel was caught on camera fingering herself.

Most satellite TV decoders give room for owners to restrict content based on nudity, violence, foul language and obscene ratings. It is like going to an x-rated channel or website and complaining about open internet, or hitting a drinking spot then complaining about the drink because it was available.

If I am not mistaken, I once read about how a similar issue as this parted Tunde Bakare from his former church. One side called Television as Television and the other said it was a devil's box because of contents they saw as obscene.
