US President Joe Biden has an audacious target in mind---wants half of all new cars sold in the United States to be electric vehicles by 2030, nearly a decade from now.


At the White House yesterday President Biden signed an executive order for 50% of new vehicles sold in the US to be electric vehicles by 2030. The order is part of his administration's plans to fight climate change by reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Though not legally binding but heavily supported by lawmakers and the big automakers like the likes of General Motors, Ford Motor Co and Stellantis, which have jointly announced to have between 40% and 50% of their vehicles sold in the United States to be zero emission vehicles by 2030.

The target would require billions of dollars in investments in charging networks, research and development, etc. for it to be achievable.

It's achievable. Funnily he won't be president then, but his successors will see to it that it becomes reality.

Hmmm that's a bad sign for our oil dependant economy. Cos the oil price will keep going down � the more the fight to protect the environment the less relevant oil become.

I'm all for anything that protects the environment. This move will force future governments to sit up and look beyond oil to generate revenues.
