International Youth Day: Foundation Resonate On Onerous Task Of Nation Building

By Blessing Bature- Akpakpan

As the world is celebrating the International youth day, a youth based organization, Project Rescue Nigeria Foundation has charged Nigerian youths on the onerous tasks of rescuing country from the precipice of insecurity, political instability, economic strangulation, unemployment, religious bigotry and other abnormalities that is bedevilling the nation.

The Convener and National Coordinator Project Rescue Nigeria Foundation, Comrade Irem Raphael Nnaemeka made the call yesterday in Abuja during the breakfast dialogue organized by the group in commemoration of the International youth day, saying that Nigeria is at the cross road in all fronts; economically, politically, socially and security wise and the youths must rise up to the occasion in changing the narrative, get involve and retrieve Nigeria from the claws of the old brigade, he said.

Nnaemeka said the topic for the 2021 International youth day " youth, politics, peace and security " was germane considering the fact that Nigeria is facing the worse of insecurity scenario in her chequered history as regional and ethnic secessionist and irredentists rare their heads in violent clamour for self determination.
He maintained that there's need for renaissance and reawakening of the flames of patriotism in our youths and the blaze of love for one another, adding that instead of being antagonistic, we should be organized, articulated to build a durable pact that will hold the leaders accountable and most importantly be politically involved in all strata of democratic governance to build the Nigeria that will all dream of.

Also speaking Amb. Obuesi Philip, the National Director of Community Agenda for Peace said that youths are important stakeholders in the national development and if Nigeria must grow youth must be actively involved not just as supporters but as actors in the Nigerian project.

We must refuse to be used by corrupt politicians to perpetuate evil or for their selfish gain, we must channel our energy on positve engagements, contribute to economic development, involve in the political space and rescue Nigeria from this nightmare that we found ourselves to where we will all be proud of.
