Racoon: And what is the barrage of security agencies in Nigeria; the Nigerian Army, Navy, Air Force, DSS, Paramilitary Security Agencies doing? Of course they have failed.
So how can the governor of a state enter into a MOU with a private security outfit in another country to violates Nigeria's sovereignty? .... Keep kwayet there, all your corrupt security agencies have not been able curtail the scorge of kidnapping and banditry ravaging the country, in fact it is getting worse. Look at the news we get from Kwara and Kogi every day, it is disheartening, I think the direction the Kebbi government have taken is the right one. |

Shock and panic have gripped social media after reports surfaced that a newly sworn-in lawyer was abducted shortly after attending the Nigerian Law School Call to Bar ceremony in Abuja. Eyes Of Lagos reports,
The incident was made public by a fellow colleague of the victim, identified on X (formerly Twitter) as @Rhave_official, who appealed for urgent help while sharing details of the abduction.
According to the post, the young lawyer and her sister were kidnapped on their way home, with the abductors demanding a ransom of ₦20 million.
The tweet reads:
“My friend and colleague has been kidnapped on her way home from the Call to Bar ceremony. Please we need help 🙏🙏. There’s a 20 million naira ransom on her and her sister. @PoliceNG @NBAYLFOfficial @DeleFarotimi.”
This comes just days after 4,437 new wigs were formally admitted into the Nigerian Bar during the three-day ceremony, which ran from September 23 to 25, 2025, in Abuja.
The incident has sparked outrage and concern across social platforms, with many demanding swift action from security agencies.

WizardOfNG: So you do not consider Nigerians having access to the offerings of the numerous financial services, including investments that can complement their labour and hard work overseas, a good thing?
All you can perceive is negatives i.e "more taxes" etc?
Can I tell you, for example, as someone who has one, that the British ISA (Individual savings accounts) is the best ,government-backed home for personal savings that attract no interest?
If I then tell you that UK ISAs pays pittance interest in comparison to what Nigerians can earn if they have access, facilitated by the PBAT Government, to buy Nigerian treasury bills, for example, from their diasporan base would you say that is a bad thing?
The best UK ISAs pay circa 4.3% fixed deposit (refraining from touching your savings for lengthy periods of time) meaning it is the best investment vehicle Nigerians living in the UK can access. Other UK non-ISA investment offer far less yield over a year .
If the Nigerian government then opens up the channel for our diasporans to buy 12 to 24 months fixed deposit treasury bills at 11% to 18% interest returns, you would want our hardworking brothers and sisters in the diaspora to remain cut off from that so you can rant on about taxes when we know your real purpose for doing so is not because you care about Nigerians or what is best for them?
They save in the UK and get low returns. The UK is the winner as it uses their saving to improve the UK.
They save in Nigeria, via treasury bills for example , and get guaranteed high returns, with Nigeria winnings since more money is available for our government to use on infrastructural development etal, yet you have an issue with this?
Meanwhile, bear in mind foreign expatriates/workers in Nigeria have no issues repatriating their earning in Nigeria for use in their home nation because of their financially flexible and sophisticated systems Tinubu is trying to replicate. Yet you still embrace negativity alone.
What of even the limitless opportunities now open to Nigerians to invest directly in the shares, property development, asset banking (land for example), commodity and Forex trading sector etal ?
Nigeria's financial sector, about to blow as Asiwaju has always known how to achieve, is being opened to the huge diaspora sector, that foreign countries mainly benefitted from previously, to now create a mutually beneficial Country and diaspora community partnership yet you frown on those to distractedly talk negatively about tax?
Bro, take time to think of what you have become because this is revolutionary and those leaders who, before Asiwaju, prevented Nigerians from having full and mutually beneficial access to the Nigerian financial sector, whereas they were dutifully remitting over $19 billion yearly and getting nothing in return, are the ones deserving your negative vitriol if you know what this CNN initiative will achieve.
Just watch. You guys will be shamed regardless of how you are determined to be obsessively negative about anything and everything the PBAT government does. ..... You conveniently chose not to tell us that the inflation rate in Nigeria has been in double digits for the past ten years and that in the UK have been single digits. We all know that inflation rate, bank interest rates and mortgage rates are like conjoined triplets and inseparable. |

Tareq1105: Yours is negative negative negative and negative. You never see anything good about Nigeria. It's what you see that you get even in the spiritual. Pls start to see good things and profess it. ....One is trying as much as possible to be positive about Nigerian Banks, but the stories we hear about these banks are always negative, bad customer service, time delayed reversal non compliance, atm not dispensing cash, and the most annoying of all to me, is the ATM card maintenance charges. How is it possible to maintain something that is tucked in my wallet. We diasporas that have experienced services from western banks will be reluctant to take the leap. For crying out loud, why will I take my hard earned cash from a known, tried and trusted financial institution to an unknown not too reputable financial institution just out of sentiments. Until they get their acts together I will continue fraternizing with the devil I know. |

sammyscholar: Evacuation during fire outbreak in a high-rise building can present a huge challenge. You would need to get to the ground floor before you can make exit from the building. Elevator may have stopped working and the staircase might not be easily accessible. Also, the smoke of the fire is as deadly as the fire itself, some may have passed out before they make it to the exit. We are not ready for the 21st century, no fire alarm system, no fire rated doors, no sprinkler systems, no fire marshals |

OfoIgbo: Anioma but igbo.
Anybody that doesn't like this truism can go and hug a transformer ....I don't understand incessant quest for state creation, my own opinion is it will just increase the cost of governance, discrimination against non origins and more corruption. A case in point was the old Bendel state now comprising Bayelsa, Delta and Edo State, both Governors of the later where indicted for corruption, Ibori and Igbenedion. What happened to economy of scale. In Economics companies producing identical goods or services usually merge to reduce operational cost thus leading to improve profitability. If we have an Anioma state now, we will have new governor, first lady, deputy governor, new commissioners etc, everything is now double double, just imagine the cost. Then considering that Nigerian are inherently suceptible to corrupt practices, most of these commissioners will be eyeing one thing. |
