Who are the ipob? Do south easterners support biafra? If yes, why is the government suppressing call for referendum?

Does the FG have the constitutional authority to call for a referendum? Please answer in simple English.

Then referendum will clear your eyes. Support referendum if you e sure you and your government that majority of south east don't support biafra. Biafra can never be quench. It started in 1967, 2003-2007(massob) where uwazuruike was bought over just like they are trying to do to kanu then ipob.

We are tired of one Nigeria.
A referendum is a great way to show that a country is democratic. The 1999 Constitution does not make provisions for a referendum and so anyone asking for it is asking for trouble or war. The only way a referendum can be achieved is if the 1999 Constitution is discarded for something closer to what is obtainable to the 1957 Constitution of the first republic.

Rather than ask for referendum, what stops IPOB from involving in the political process. Join politics, convince people to vote you by selling your agenda. And when you get to the national assembly you lobby other zones to support the change of constitution which gives space for a referendum.

Scotland, Sudan, eriteria, Pakistan and India that separated, was referendum enshrined in their constitution? #referendum

Constitution can be changed if the majority votes for a change. The north currently have the majority and will not change it so long it favours them. But you can kick-start a change by involving in the political process. Wailing from now till tomorrow will do nothing but get you frustrated.

Many of them knows this but keep walking into doom like Zombie. The only way to cure or deliver them is with brutal force. I once recommended the demolition of the homes of anyone caught sponsoring IPOB in Igboland in one of my old post, I guess no one took it serious.

Police are destroying some suspected IPOB/ESN homes.Nigeria gov should go all out and get every member of IPOB leadership both in Nigeria and in diaspora starting from co-ordinators somebody like Emma Powerful should have been arrested since.

For Scotland, there was provision for a referendum in the British parliamentary system. For Pakistan and India, nothing of such happened. The colonial masters simply agreed to the Muslim for Pakistan and Hindu for India mantra in separating them. This was not the same for Bangladesh who broke out from Pakistan due to civil war.

In the case of South Sudan and Eritra they fought an age-long civil war to be free from her former hold. Sudan fought a 50 years civil war, while Eritrea lasted more than 30 years costing them millions of male population sacrificed to the war.

Are we ready for such conflict? The answer is capital NO.

Most folks want an end to the terrorist activities of IPOB in the east, and this thread wants to create that platform to start something serious.
And you think that will end ipob struggle? Only #referendum will do that. Support referendum. They are tired of one Nigeria. Why trying to suppress their voices. One Nigeria unity beggars

You mean the 1999 constitution General Abdulsalam wrote in his bedroom? As far as we are concerned, the 1999 constitution is a fraud since it was not the making of the Nigerian people

More needs to be done, but the South East leadership is lacking balls in this case.

You talked about British and colonial masters, India and Pakistan.
1. North practice islam while south east practice Christianity in the case of India and Pakistan.
2. South sudan and Sudan fought civil war Biko what war was fought in 1967?
3. Colonial master that joined Nigeria together should come and separate them because the amalgation is illegal. Who signed the document?

Yet it was the condition for accepting Civilian rule. It was a case of the devil and the deep blue sea unless you are pretending not to be alive when Abdulsalami passed it. From 1999 till now should be 23 years. That time is enough to change the constitution. But the civilian leaders went there for themselves and not for the people.

It’s obvious whenever sane Igbos talk about IPOB, many of you rush to compare what happens elsewhere to justify your terrorism in Igboland. But this won't work anymore. If the middle-belt and north allows their home to be fertile ground for terrorist, Ndigbo will never allow it.

The Metamorphosis of IPOB

Right from the time an unknown fellow called Nnamdi Kanu rose in 2014, many of us knew that his mission was to destroy Ndigbo. He came as a freedom fighter who jumped on the post-election grievance of those from the SE/SS to garner support and sell his evil machinations. From using his politically motivated Radio station in spreading hate speech, to fighting the government of the APC, it was clear that they were a secret vendetta behind the smokescreen.

While many illiterate Igbo masses became his support base, the majority politically daft ones overseas became his financial support. But behind that support, was an aggrieved political party using his platform to reign fire and brimstone for her loss in the 2015 general elections. And since the militant in the Niger Delta sold out already with the amnesty program, the next group to use was MASSOB (IPOB coincidentally, broke up from the former).

Why Igbos became the willing tool

Since the end of the civil war, and surprisingly to most Nigerians, the Biafran ideals never left the mind of Ndigbo. While our fathers were reserved, the newer generations embraced the Biafran cause as a rallying cry to speak up against marginalization. And they was a perceived discriminatory policy against us. Initially, the Neo-Biafran movement was noble when politicians didn't involve in the mix, but as soon as selfish interest got hold of the ideals it became a platform through which failed politicians used to hit at their perceived enemies.

Today, not only has the Biafran movement got hijacked by terrorist groups, it now seeks to destroy those it seeks to fight for. Today, the tacit support that IPOB got from Ndigbo is looking like an irreversible blunder. From deceiving the gullible with her messianic stance, Nnamdi Kanu’s led group now assumes forced leadership over the Igbo race. A leadership that arose by deceit and threats can never be genuine.

All the teachings of Kanu to his students are now bearing fruits. Kanu might be under arrest, but his foot soldiers who got their education from his Radio Biafra are hardened and now practicalizing his years of unchallenged tutelage. The beheading of Sabos, killing of Police Officers, and attack on government facility is just the beginning.

As days passes by, the more we begin to see the real terror group called IPOB. Just as IPOB members brag, Boko-Haram might be a child’s play if the group assumes her full terror attacks against the sovereign state of Nigeria. But ironically, like Boko-Haram who were restricted to the NE, IPOB will be restricted to the SE and parts of the SS.

But there is still a problem. While Boko-Haram had a structural command led by late Shekau before the break up of ISWAP, IPOB lacks a central command as every criminal-minded person in the east now runs their own UGM cell. This is why we see several unclaimed attacks and beheadings going on. And trust politicians to arm and use these terror cells to fight her enemies as seen in places like Imo state.
[/s] another miscreant recruited this morning by APC.
