It is a good thing to see children with football stars. They walk by their side as they enter into the stadium when a match is about to begin. This article is about the reason why children are usually accompanied with footballers before the start of a game.
Simply put, why do football players date their kids in the first place? Well, for beginners, those kids, pets, don't always go through tunnels or any pre-match passages that bring players to the field. You only need to look at the footage of the 1990 World Cup final or the 1994 FA Cup final, and you will find that children don't always shake hands with great men before going to work.

There has been a couple of ideas put forward as to why the football players walk out with the child mascots at the start of the games.

At the turn of the millennium FIFA announced that they would be partnering with UNICEF in the name of a “Say Yes for Children” Campaign. The campaign was meant to “improve and protect children’s lives” around the world and show “football making a difference for children.” This came slightly after the the first signs of mascots in the premier league in 1999 and at the 2000 European Championships, where for the first time 11 mascots were used on both sides.

Another important factor for this is the fact that the teams also make money from the process. Some team charge over £300 for a package deal where a child is able to meet and greet the players, receive a fully signed shirt and walk out onto the pitch with a player.

It has also been suggested that by using children as mascots that the fans are less likely to throw things at them- although this only happens very rarely.
