Delta State alone 188 billion Naira from Statutory Allocation last year, Yet they are still clamoring for more money, instead of accountability.

The oil was consigned in 1967 to the Buharis of far north by some people from the Niger Delta.
Blame the error of some so-called leaders of non-Igbo groups in the old eastern region.

In 1967, the group journeyed to Kaduna, begged Hassan Katsina, the then governor of northern Nigeria to plead with the then HoS, Yakubu Gowon, to carve the non-Igbo speaking areas of the old eastern region out of Biafra.

Gowon quickly carved out Rivers and Cross Rivers state out of Biafra. That helped a lot to scuttle independence for Biafra.
The northern business people took the oil wells in the Niger Delta.

It’s unfortunate that till today, there are block heads who say: “we in the Nigerdelta, we no be part of your IgboBiafra.”

It’s not PDP anything.

NASS is overpopulated with northern legislators derived from the excess number of 19 states and Abuja proliferated in the old northern region by northern military dictators who wrongly used land mass or population as criterion to create too many states in the old northern region of Nigeria.

Under Buhari government which also has a northerner as leader of the NASS, it became easier to fraudulently doctor the PIB, pass it and get President Buhari quickly sign it into law. This is the Buhari who archived the recommendations of the 2014 CONFAB.

Buhari sees himself as the Othman Danfodio of Arewa in the 21st Century.

PDP should please keep silent, they had 16 years to craft and execute the bill but instead, they choose not to. sometimes a bad decision is better than no decision at all. I think host communities should have nothing less than 15% derivative, at least the host communities are getting something as compared to 50 years of nothing.

The Peoples Democratic Party has said the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), displayed disdain for the people of Niger Delta when he signed the Petroleum Industrial Bill into law today.

The PDP described the PIB which was passed by the National Assembly as offensive, repugnant and anti-people.

According to the party, Buhari’s endorsement of the bill shows that he and his All Progressives Congress have no iota of respect for the people as well as the tenets of democracy as a system of government.

This was disclosed in a statement signed by the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, titled, “PDP Berates Buhari For Signing PIB Despite Public Outcry…Says Action Confirms President Lacks Regard for Nigerians.”

The statement read, “The PDP berates President Muhammadu Buhari for ignoring the outcry by Nigerians across board not to sign the offensive, repugnant and anti-people Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB), as passed by the National Assembly into law.

“The party notes that the signing of the law, despite widespread public rejection, amounts to an endorsement of imposition and further confirms that President Buhari and his All Progressives Congress have no iota of respect for the people as well as the tenets of democracy as a system of government.

“By his action, President Buhari has only authenticated that he is not a listening leader and that the APC and its leaders are only out to trample on the will of Nigerians for their selfish interests.

“In putting his hands to endorse the obnoxious bill, even with its distasteful, paltry &provocative 3 per cent revenue to oil-producing communities, President Buhari and the APC have again displayed disdain and insensitivity to the sufferings of the people of the Niger Delta.

“The PDP holds that such is the height of contempt to oil-producing communities, particularly in the face of the challenges which they face as a result of oil exploration.

“Noting that Mr. President could have returned the bill to the National Assembly with a request that it is made to address the demands of the oil-producing communities, our party fears that the new law cannot guarantee the desired stability and development in the oil and gas sector as well as respite in the Niger Delta region.

“If anything, the Act, as signed by President Buhari, is a dangerous recipe for avoidable crisis in the sector.

“The PDP calls on President Buhari to salvage the situation by immediately forwarding an amendment bill to the National Assembly to reflect the true wishes and aspirations of every segment of our nation.”
