You see, leadership is complicated. I will use a local analogy to break it down. While many Nigerians are complaining that Buhari is a bad leader, there are many Nairalanders defending the same government.

The truth is, a government cannot favour everyone. It must appeal to some people and not others. The question now is, on what divide are you? Take it or leave it, extreme Muslims, like many Afghans are, will love the Taliban government and hate the stooges the US imposed on their country.

Majority of Afghans would disagree with your first line. The scene at Kabul airport few days ago and the suicidal attempt to escape confirms this.

When there is lack of trust and confidence on the supposed legitimate government and the the recognised security apparatus to protect lives and properties, people would tend to comply and ally with whoever they fear most or thought would offer any alternative no matter how suspicious that alternative is.
