EKITI STATE GOVERNOR AND CHAIRMAN NGF DR. KAYODE FAYEMI SAYS GEN. IBB'S COMMITMENTS AND PATRIOTISM REFERENCE POINTS TO YOUNGER GENERATIONS

Governor of Ekiti State and Chairman Nigeria Governors' Forum (NGF), Dr. Kayode Fayemi said the commitments and patriotism displayed by former Nigeria's Military President, Gen. Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida have remained reference point to younger generations.

Dr. Fayemi stated this when he, in company of his Kebbi State Counterpart and Chairman of All Progressives Governors' Forum, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, on behalf of Nigerian Governors, visited Gen. Babangida at his hilltop residence in Minna, Niger State capital, to celebrate with him as he turned 80.

The NGF Chairman said Gen. Babangida deserves accolades considering how he contributed his quota in the development of the country by fighting for the unity of the nation as a soldier and a Military President adding that their visit is out of respect and admiration of his selfless service to the nation.

"He can be described as a committed soldier, a Professional one who fought for the unity of the country and went on to serve as the Military President.

"He did a lot on whole range of issues and served the country with commitment and patriotism and contributed his quota to the general development of the country, he said.

Dr Fayemi, who acknowledged that nation building process is a continuous one, said no leadership without challenges stressing that the capacity to manage the challenges are significant for history.

The NGF Chairman then prayed for good health, more wisdom and knowledge for the celebrant to continue to mentor the younger generations based on his experiences for a better and virile society.

Niger State Governor Abubakar Sani Bello led his colleagues to the hilltop residence of Gen. Babangida in Minna.
